The City of West Des Moines is declaring an Emergency Parking Ban for Snow Removal will go into effect for the City of West Des Moines at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026. This parking ban will remain in effect until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026.

West Des Moines Police responded to Valley Southwoods High School 625 S. 35th Street around 10:42 AM September 10, 2025. Police are on site and are reporting there is no active threat.
Police have a presence at the school and will remain on-site until the scene is released.
Now that the rain has stopped, our bike patrol has been on the trails. We came across a friendly little turtle that we had to move along, so please keep an eye out for his friends and be aware that there may be areas of mud or debris from the recent rains. Enjoy the day!

**FOUND SAFE**
Shortly before 7 PM this evening, Claire Carlson was spotted near Raccoon River Park by members of the public, who contacted the Westcom Communications Center. First responders were sent to the area and located Carlson. She is being reunited with her family.
Please help us locate Claire Cassidy Carlson. She is 28, hazel eyes, and brown/blonde hair. Claire is 5’7” and approx 170 lbs. Claire is believed to be in crisis.
