The formation of the Bengaluru East City Corporation (BECC) marks a significant step towards decentralised urban governance.

But what does this actually mean for residents?

Join us for Building the New East — a discussion featuring BECC Commissioner D.S. Ramesh, along with senior officials from BWSSB, BESCOM, BSWML, BMTC, BCP and BTP.

This is not a grievance redressal session. The focus is on understanding:

- What the new governance framework means for Bengaluru East

- How planning, budgeting and decision-making will work within the new Corporation

- The role citizens can play in shaping local priorities and strengthening accountability

- How decentralisation will help move towards greater transparency, accountability and more effective municipal service delivery

A classic case of abandonment right here.

The outer areas of Bangalore is a Wild West in terms of road infrastructure. What makes it worse is that any and all responsibility to bring in sanity or management is not taken up, as “works are in progress”

The said work in Dommasandra in the post below has been going on for years. YEARS.

During that time - is it allowed for Police to abandon their responsibility to manage traffic. Add in traffic lights?

Should accidents be allowed to happen? Death, destruction and delay, mere statistics to be reported. If at all.

Bengaluru Central City Corporation has transformed a long-standing garbage black spot on Siddhaiah Road, Sudhamnagar into a clean and attractive public space.

Six months of neglect. Five days of community effort. Destroyed in just one week.

Residents of Vaswani Menlo Park, Thubarahalli, raised ₹50,000 through crowdfunding and volunteered every day to clean, level, and cement this stretch for pedestrian safety. Just a week later, BWSSB dug up the same road, undoing all that work.

Can agencies coordinate before digging up newly restored public spaces? Taxpayer money and community efforts deserve better.

BWSSB - Please take the responsibility and fix this mess on priority.

Strict enforcement of construction waste management practices and solid waste bye laws will improve public health not to mention air quality and visual pollution.

Such intense clean up drives followed by continuous efforts for waste segregation at source and ward level scientific processing will make Bengaluru reclaim #GardenCity tag that was getting lost in the debris and black spots

everyone complains about indiranagar footpaths. almost nobody knows you can fix it in an hour.

i tested the system today and im proud to say that it works! a small tale:

i hate that indiranagar isn’t walkable. street vendors are back, cars on the footpath, trash piles appearing again, dangling wires, broken tiles. there’s almost always a car parked on the footpath outside Chianti on 12th main. it chokes that footpath.

so i asked the officer at the 12th main 100ft signal how to file it. he walked me through the whole thing. ticket and official assigned under a minute. i send him proof images. within minutes i receive a notification that the owner’s been fined.

car doesn’t move. i call the official and he’s there in under 20 minutes. gets it removed, warns the owner and the restaurant staff who park there too.

tells me to keep reporting. i offered to buy him coffee. he declined and went straight to his next case. then the command centre calls me for feedback. we talk 10 minutes.

from my limited experience, the traffic police genuinely want to do the work. they want civic sense to win.
