Pretty darn good Dartmouth commencement speech from tennis great Roger Federer.

Or ponder these paragraphs about the dangers of perfectionism and the need to move past mistakes:
Imagine there was one factor that could increase the probability of you achieving your performance goal 700%!
The good news is, you don't have to imagine.
A 5-year longitudinal study in Australian track and field found:
Completing more than 80% of intended training time,
Makes you 7X more likely to achieve your performance goals that training year.
This often overlooked determinant is simple, but not easy to execute.
How can we improve consistency?
• Fluid and progressive planning to an individuals detraining and building residuals
• Minimize risk in the prescription. Why are unplanned spikes in load appearing?
• Progressing injury rehabilitation from day 1 within the constraints of the injury as quick as an athlete is adapting.
Because every day of standstill is more time added on in the final phases to get the athlete fit enough to meet the demands of the sport.

Might be one of the best things I ever read on youth athletic development...this is coming from an Olympic lifting coach Don McCauley.
"I'm not going to spend a lot of time in this book writing about the developmental holes I believe most U.S. athletes have because of improper preparation for high level sports performance most have received. Let me state this. If you are a pre-teen or teenage athlete who competes in four or five sports per year or unending competitive seasons, you are in an abusive situation, not athletics. If you haven't taken or been given time to run through the woods or streets or alleys with your friends, jump up on rocks, jump rope, wrestle anyone that came by, skate backwards, play hop Scotch, bale hay or chop wood, climb trees, jump off a swing for height and distance, play dodge ball, climb over a fence, play Sandlot football and do back flips and cartwheels for fun, you haven't been properly prepared for high competition levels in true power sports." We have now finished with our trial of the #EmergencyAlert system
If you did not receive an alert on your mobile phone, then this was due to the fact that you are not scheduled to survive the upcoming extinction level event

It's simply a political decision to let rivers die. There's no reason why we can't have waterways as clean as this. A combination of this government, Ofwat, & the vastly profitable, mainly foreign-owned water companies are turning us, once again, into the Dirty Old Man of Europe

It was only ever going to go one way...
