@emmma_camp_ NYC Housing law allows landlords to enter the unit for any necessary repairs: https://t.co/xRTD74fYgw, Can a landlord enter my apt? > "To provide necessary or agreed upon repairs or services, or
In accordance with the lease"
@ForrestTheWoods@KirtCurtKert Maybe this is just because I've never used alternatives, but git has never been that bad for me. My company uses a monorepo and sparse checkouts/clones have been easy for me to manage and stacked PRs with rebasing was tedious but easy to script (and now we have gh stack/graphite)
Europe has temporarily forgotten that its peace and prosperity have always rested upon men able and willing to exact tremendous violence against those who wish it harm.
It'll remember again.
I think this perfectly exemplifies why people in tech shouldn't be at the forefront of policy. LLMs are better then they've ever been and are not curing cancer yet, but they are taking white collar jobs. Really bad things happen when a country suddenly has rapid unemployment
It is crazy how a technology that has the potential to cure cancer, alzheimer's, and who knows what else is so universally hated outside of rich tech.
How did Sama and Dario so thoroughly fumble this?
How did they not see telling everybody they're going to lose their jobs every few months and now we might (ππ) accidentally kill everyone isn't a winning strategy?
@ArmandDoma Brother a milquetoast bill that removed any actual preventative power from the government before going to Gavin is not the own you think it is on AI regulation. There's a reason Elon liked it
@rough__sea > 32 cells share each isolate
Is this configurable? Seems like if you might have long running processes in a cell you'd actually want to optimize for separate threads
Holy shit $3400 when you're sharing an apartment is also terrible! Even if you're making $200,000, you should not be spending that much on rent alone it's just bad financial planning
Related to high rents in SF, here's one of my favorite new apartment buildings in the Mission that illustrates *why* 2BR rents have gotten so high
Here's a 840sf 2BR/2BA available for $6800 right now
A small unit, but as you can see ... it's essentially designed as 2 separate suites for roommates. So it's functionally $3400/mo per person. Which means you'd need to make ~$125,000 a year.
Which is a lot, but not Anthropic money. It's close to the base salary for new grads, even outside of software. So the market is being pulled up by the increase in employees in the general tech/ai/finance set
Not (just) by a few one off moonshot companies.
@credealjunkie What in the absolute correlation is this. The ban only mentions non-public data for algorithms used to determine increasing rent or limiting occupancies aka "find cause for eviction". You can't think of ANY other reason for exponential rent increases from Jan. 2025?!
@gregorykennedy@DumbMoneyCapitl@Handre This is not a topic every economist agrees on, it's still wildly shifting, but aggregates across studies point to small negative to positive results in the US https://t.co/fqEYeMdZ3l
@barakgila@jonfreakingc@Scott_Wiener Brother wtf do you mean "code as left leaning", SEIU, WFP, and SFLC are the actual working class people of this city, it's not like some weird teamsters BS where the president decides their endorsement against the wishes of over half their members
@barakgila@PippengerHarlo And if the federal government is doing nothing with the tax code then should the wealthiest state in the country also do nothing?
@barakgila@behindthenet@work2500 Let's not pretend like Herzog is some saint that abhors what his government is doing. The man has defended the illegal settlements in the West Bank and has been personally cited in the UNs genocide hearings for genocidal rhetoric: https://t.co/9mFN0VnUos
@hyphy_republic Why does it matter how much other capital they have if they launder AIPAC money in any way? If anything that's just further obfuscating where the potential money is coming from, and if 1/20th is genocide incorporated I would be wary of other donors too
@RileyTX She didn't take the money here, it went to some shell PAC which went to a well known media firm. The money could've gone in to tank her campaign or split a vote, all things aipac has done before. Y'all being disingenuous like this destroys any coalition against Weiner
@loomdoop@jrivanob I don't know how to, since it's unlikely to be tv ads in such short notice and could just be texts or the doorknob flyers I saw posted around Dolo today. I'm not taking all this as a big conspiracy, but this is a pattern and worthy of reporting https://t.co/Do0emn9qMN
@loomdoop@jrivanob I'm not saying this was handled perfectly, but in the best case this was an attack on Chan from AIPAC, in which case she should've responded when asked for comments. In the worst case there are some shady dealings which would be irresponsible not to report on before primaries
@loomdoop@jrivanob The money was disclosed with support of Chan, using the same media group that was used in Chicago recently. It sucks aipac pops up shell PACs at election time not allowing full disclosures, but it doesn't mean it shouldn't be reported on. She was asked for comment and didn't
