If you would like to learn more about Grant's story and the physical and emotional challenges he has overcome, @tayloreldridge wrote an outstanding article for the Wichita Eagle. I encourage everyone who witnessed the races yesterday to read this article!

@KSHSAA@WHTSTrack_Field Thank you to KSHSAA and its spectators for recognizing Grant, Micah, and Loyale as competitors in the 2021 State T&F meet. It was an honor to be a part of history with these gentlemen.
Take a moment to understand the athleticism these young men (cont.)
For Grant, the 100m and 400m races are not his strongest. Compare his 1600m and 3200m PR's from 2 weeks ago with the state medalists and you can see the caliber of athlete Grant is. He is dedicated to this sport and is one of the hardest working athletes I have ever met.
More history being made at the @KSHSAA State Track & Field Championships. The first-ever Boys Wheelchair 400m Dash. Grant Pierce of Wichita Heights claims the first place finish with a time of 1:03.98, his second gold of the day.
Shoutout to @WHtsAthletics' Grant Pierce who became the 1st @KSHSAA wheelchair state champ.
Grant won the 100 and 400! "I love track and being able to compete here at state in front of everyone, with everyone, it's a huge honor."
