@maab633@usfsarp Great question...trees that were removed were dead and had been blown down by an extreme wind event. Removing dead trees from trails maintains access for recreational users and Forest Managers, while keeping the nutrients within the ecosystem.

A shout-out to WRV's crosscut sawyers! 77 volunteers contributed a total of 1,379 hours this summer, clearing 626 downed trees from over 50 miles of trail in the Indian Peaks, Eagles Nest and Ptarmigan Peak Wilderness Areas. We hikers thank you for your important work!
