I have always had love for 18th-c. German (to be precise, Swiss) portraiture, with Anton Graff being my favorite. The arrival of my latest acquisition has been quite intriguing—it seems to be yet another previously unpublished portrait by this artist! https://t.co/WiO4RGxKFf
@ThomasCels@Mweilc In the Uffizi there is very little representation of French or Dutch painting. A completely disproportionate dominance of Italian (albeit of the highest class) painting arises. This is not very actual
@ThomasCels A good example of Subleyras's work. Another question is whether it is worth overloading the museum with religious painting. Uffizi has fundamental gaps in the landscape and portrait of the 18th century. Two good landscapes by Vernet would be better.
