I had the opportunity to stop in to the Civics Education Showcase at Forest Grove yesterday. I wasn’t able to speak with all of the presenters, but I was able to listen to four of the group presentations and they were phenomenal. Our scholars are amazing! The topics that the groups I was able to speak with presented on were: child abuse, homelessness, racism and food insecurity. The topics were thoroughly researched, thoughtfully discussed and creatively presented on. I found it impressive that students were using SMART goals In their presentations. SMART stands for specific, measurable, actionable, relevant and time bound. Thank you to Mr. Degnan and the League of Women Voters for putting on the showcase. Getting to interact with students and educators is always a pleasure and seeing the incredible work our educators and scholars are doing is wonderful!
