Today, at the closure of the retreat for the newly elected NRM Members of the 12th Parliament, I hosted them at Ngoma State Lodge. We toured the farm and walked to the bridge between River Mayanja and River Kafu, an area with historical significance linked to our liberation struggle, including the 1984 NRA attack on Masindi Barracks.
I cautioned these young leaders against corruption, especially in Parliament. I also reiterated our long-standing message of moving Ugandans from subsistence living to the money economy, as demonstrated by the transformation of the cattle corridor through dairy farming.
The NRM National Treasurer Amb. Barbara Nekesa has said the party’s ongoing leaders’ retreat at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi has successfully achieved its core objectives, citing strong participation and alignment among Members of Parliament.
To health educators & promoters, epidemiogists, nutritionists & all health professionals, I am really worried. And you too should be.
Why? The battle against non- Communicable diseases is far from being won.
The dominant but mistaken thinking that being heavy, overweight & obese= being healthy and on the other hand being slim & small-framed = being unhealthy is a serious cause for alarm. To the contrary, a lean body= a strong one 💪. Is this hard to understand?
Weight loss can only be worrying if it's unintentional, unexplainable, and most times due to malnutrition or an involuntary matabolic syndrome associated with underlying chronic sickness. BUT if weight loss is intentional & achieved through measures such as dieting or slimming that involve reducing one's total body mass through calorie reduction, increased physical activity, or lifestyle changes its nothing else BUT an act to celebrate. It is one of the best health targets/outcomes every rational & disciplined person should set and aim to achieve.
Yes, looking lean or slim may worry some that may not be used with a person's new looks, BUT it is all ok.
Obesity has never been a badge of honor!
So dear friends sending me messages of "quick recovery"( and especially those of you doing so out of love, not mockery), please take heart , I am not sick. My new looks are intentional.
Its well with me & I thank God for all his blessings and mostly the gift of life!
Otherwise,Greetings from NALI, our Political MECCA!
I express my sincere gratitude to my brother, our esteemed Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. @mkainerugaba, for endorsing and agreeing with the decision of the @NRMOnline CEC regarding the House leadership. Tuko Pamoja!
I thank Their Excellencies, the Heads of State of the East African Community, for entrusting me with the responsibility of serving as Chairperson of the EAC Summit for the next year.
Africa must avoid what I call “Okukonesa” , the mis-cooking of the African Revolution. Historically, our weaknesses of disunity, poor leadership and failure to adopt science allowed the continent to be colonised.
We achieved Uhuru (freedom). The next mission must be Umoja (unity).
Prosperity comes from production and markets. Fragmented markets keep Africa poor.
In Luganda we say: “Omuggo oguli ku mulirano tegugoba ngo.” The stick in the neighbour’s house cannot chase away the leopard.
Africa must build its own internal market through integration. The East African Community and continental integration are therefore not optional.
The mission remains: Uhuru na Umoja, Freedom and Unity.
On this day, we proudly honour all the trailblazers who have paved the way for the empowerment of women and the girl child, enabling them to walk the path of dignity and equality. We acknowledge the women throughout history who have tirelessly held families, communities, and the nation together, creating safe and nurturing environments for their children. Special recognition goes to the dedicated women in the justice, law, and order sectors—judges, police officers, lawyers, and social workers—who have gone beyond their duties to ensure access to justice and promote public safety. It is our collective responsibility to significantly increase investments in legal aid, education, and awareness programs to accelerate access to justice for all women and girls in Uganda, ensuring their rights are protected and upheld.
Assalaam Alaikum!
I am greatly honoured to welcome you all to
the Parliament of the Republic of Uganda.
As you may be aware, the Parliament of
Uganda has made it a tradition to host an
Iftar dinner every Ramadhan. This is in
recognition of our Muslim brothers and
sisters as an integral segment of our
community and an expression of solidarity
throughout this holy month of Ramadhan.
This Iftar Dinner is a historic one. We are
graced with the presence of His Royal
Highness Dr. Kassim Nakibinge
Kakungulu, the Titular Head of the
Muslim Community in Uganda.
NRM’s Shafiga Wanyenya speaks to her bid for MP Bungokho North in Mbale, where she is vying against four male contenders, including incumbent John Faith Magolo, whom she decisively defeated in #NRMPrimaries.

Earlier today, we hosted over 15,000 @NRMOnline leaders from villages, parishes, subcounties, and districts throughout the Bugisu subregion. The meeting in Mbale provided these leaders with a clear overview of the @NRMOnline manifesto from our leader, enabling them to effectively share the message with the rest of the region.
I would like to thank President @KagutaMuseveni for taking the time out of his busy schedule to equip these leaders with the essential knowledge they need.
