Barlavento (“windward”) is one of our favourite birds! For the 4th consecutive year, he left Iberia in the end of August, and he’s heading to Senegal to spend the winter, suggesting that adult #WhiteStorks are very consistent in their migratory decisions.

Looks like Marge is have a rest stop just north of Dijon, France. After travelling 200Km in 24 hours Fri/Sat she's stayed local today. Will she stay there or will she carry on to the UK?!

Foraging on landfills is a real time & energy-saving strategy for #WhiteStorks! During breeding, storks travelled up to 40km (each way!) to access landfills and still spent less energy than if they foraged on natural areas!
