Stanford Reservoir - more #patchgold when I found this moulting eclipse drake Lesser Scaup, first for the site & for Northants. Also, 3 Glossy Ibis, Bittern, 2 Pintail, Common Tern, Common Sand & Great Egret. @LandRbirds@rg_stanford#northantsbirds
Pectoral Sandpiper on Rimac car park scrape, Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes NNR, today (when it was being chased off by Lapwings!). A Temminck's Stint joined later, and a fly-over Glossy Ibis made for a good morning @RareBirdAlertUK
What appeared to be a very quiet day on Great Saltee Island last Friday suddenly turned chaotic when Ireland’s first Trumpeter Finch landed in front of me. 🤯
Finding this dark morph Honey Buzzard in a garden in Levenwick back on 25/05 was a bit of a surprise, a stunning bird to see up close! It was sporting some serious tail damage and taking a battering from the local Hoodies.🤞it reached its destination.
Stanford Reservoir - 2 late May additions to #PWC2026 on Saturday with Spot Fly & House Sparrow (rare here). Also, a Curlew spent most of the day on the dam. Total at end of May 134 species, 183 points.
Lucky 13! There have been 12 previous records of Gull-billed Tern at Cley since 1932, but all have been fly-throughs and none has been twitchable – until today's! (More pics at https://t.co/Z1h7nSP3li.)
Red Footed Falcon (adult male) Holt Heath, Dorset-May 2026, this individual showed well of an evening feeding on the wing & occasionally landing on the nearby tree stumps providing excellent views, also adult Curlew with 3 small chicks & sev Hobby @SightingDOR@RareBirdAlertUK
My 7th UK Pectoral Sandpiper at Leebitton, Shetland and best views yet of this superb Nearctic wader, feeding just a few metres away on the seaweed wrack.
White-winged Scoter, Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland.
Obviously all the usual caveats about distance and light but it was nice to get some record shots recently.
Stanford Reservoir - surprise addition to #PWC2026 with this Avocet on the dam. Last recorded in 2017 and only in 5 of the last 26 yrs (including today’s). Only my second for the patch. @LandRbirds@rg_stanford
Stanford Reservoir - 2 more additions to #PWC2026 this AM with a Drake Garganey & Mandarin (a species I didn’t have in 2025). Also, a late Goldeneye added to the duck fest. Species total now at 131 and 179 points. @LandRbirds@rg_stanford
Wow! A Northern Parula @FI_Obs! A massive surprise when this stunner flicked over my shoulder and landed in front of me at Vaila's Trees. After being a bit mobile it thankfully settled down, showing well for everyone on the isle.
Some off the camera pics of the Northern Parula that spent all day munching on insects in Vaila’s Trees @FI_Obs cracking bird and find by @tom_wright16 also 2 Temmincks stint provided a fine supporting cast.
Stanford Reservoir - patch tick this AM - Nightingale caught by the ringing group on the Northants side. Only the second ever to be ringed, the last one in 1994. Thanks to SRG.
This superb Purple Heron, found by Hugh Wright early morning of yesterday, had relocated to the Etton-Maxey reserve, Cambs, where it gave brief glimpses before being lost to view at 5:10pm @BirdGuides@RareBirdAlertUK@CambsBirdClub
