Rediet Abebe, an incoming Asst Prof of CS at Berkeley, earned this year's Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Special Interest Group on Knowledge Discovery in Data) (SIGKDD) Doctoral Dissertation Award for her Ph.D. thesis, "Designing Algorithms for Social Good." Congrats!
