In this paper we document the occurrence of a new song variant that has arisen and spread, again from the western portion of the range. This new variant has taken hold in populations and spread more rapidly than the older triplet to doublet transition.

@RosemaryMosco That is some serious variation on the theme. Would you mind submitting it to eBird? It might never amount to more than one case, but we have seen instances in this species where odd examples become common. There’s no predicting what might be the next big thing.
