Wait isn’t this the same prescription that gave us Trumpism two times? Fierce campaign rhetoric but ape Republican economic policy? A different course would be to actually provide tangible benefits to voters like jobs, health care, higher wages, and relief from excessive prices. Might even stave off fascism for a few cycles. What @TheEconomist doesn’t get is that the goal is not to just to win the next election, but instead to build a political coalition like FDR that will endure through several elections.
