พ.อ.หญิง นุสรา วรภัทราทร · รองโฆษกกระทรวงกลาโหมเปิดเผยว่า ที่ประชุม สภากลาโหม ติดตามความคืบหน้านโยบาย พลทหารอาสา ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในนโยบายเร่งด่วนของ พลโทอดุลย์ บุญธรรมเจริญ รมว.กลาโหม โดยเร่งรัดการปรับปรุงกฎหม���ย ระเบียบ และข้อบังคับที่เกี่ยวข้อง พร้อมกำหนดแผนประชาสัมพันธ์ทั่วประเทศในเดือนสิงหาคม 2569 เปิดรับสมัครผ่านระบบออนไลน์ในเดือนกันยายน 2569 และดำเนินการคัดเลือกรุ่นแรกระหว่างเดือนพฤศจิกายน 2569 ถึงเดือนมกราคม 2570 ก่อนเริ่มปฏิบัติหน้าที่ในเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ 2570 และเข้ากองประจำการวันที่ 1 พฤษภาคม 2570

กระทรวงกลาโหมตั้งเป้าให้ระบบพลทหารอาสาเป็นทางเลือกสำหรับคนรุ่นใหม่ที��สมัครใจรับใช้ชาติ พร้อมได้รับการพัฒนา 4 โอกาส ได้แก่ โอกาสด้านรายได้และสวัสดิการ เงินเดือนและ
เบี้ยเลี้ยงรวมเดือน ละประมาณ 15,000 บาท

โอกาสด้านการศึกษาและทักษะวิชาชีพ โอกาสในการพัฒนาระเบียบวินัยและสมรรถภาพ และโอกาสในการประกอบอาชีพหลังปลดประจำการ ทั้งการรับราชการ การทำงานกับภาคเอกชน และการประกอบอาชีพอิสระ
