Russia President Putin has met with Ethiopian Prime Minister  Abiy Ahmed in New Delhi. Discussions involved significant progress in the nuclear energy, agriculture, manufacturing, digital trade and defence sectors as the two countries trade ties deepen and improve. Bilateral trade has tripled in three years with Ethiopia poised to become a gateway to Eastern Africa for Russian investors. We discuss the reasons why.

Our ancestors preserved Ethiopia's borders with their blood and bones, leaving us a great nation. Today, we ensure true sovereignty through a historic path free from dependency. By shifting from importing wheat to becoming Africa's leading producer, we have saved millions of dollars. Through the "Yelemat Trufat" initiative and the "Made In Ethiopia" initiative, we are ensuring food security, expanding industries, and creating jobs. By implementing decisive macroeconomic reforms that were previously considered untouchable, we are building our nation's economy on a solid foundation.
