🇦🇷 vs 🇺🇸🇲🇽: Daniel Schteingart, an Argentine researcher, pointed out on social media that the Integrated Values Survey, a study and survey that measures values in dozens of countries, found that 4% of Argentines said they would not like having an immigrant as a neighbor, & less than 3% would object to a neighbor of a different race.
Those figures, from the most recent study conducted between 2017 and 2022, were among the lowest in the world and lower than those in the United States, France, Spain or Mexico.
“It makes sense: Argentina has opened its doors to immigration since the 19th century and has one of the friendliest immigration laws on the planet,” Mr. Schteingart wrote. 🎁🔗 https://t.co/0bKdBOHOqJ
Argentina has one of the strongest ,largest left/center left leaning, political organizations with ACTUAL activism in Latin America but ashley who’s 30 years of age and got more Bellingham fan fics than donations is about to brag her v bucks worth more than the Argentinian peso
#2026WorldCup Final:
The widespread belief that Argentina represents Israel and Spain represents Palestine is wrong and does not reflect reality.
Spain, as a whole, does not support Palestine. This support does not exist at the team level; rather, it comes more from the individual positions of certain players (such as Lamine Yamal and Borja Iglesias).
The majority of Spanish supporters are not left-wing either. On the contrary, racist circles in Spain can use the national team as a tool against players of immigrant backgrounds. Muslim and immigrant-origin footballers in particular are frequently targeted. This reality is often overlooked because the country's prime minister has shown solidarity with Palestine.
During the tournament, racist circles in Spain repeatedly targeted Lamine Yamal through social media posts and public statements.
The perception of Spain as an extremely left-wing country among the global public is largely influenced by the strong Palestine solidarity movements and left-wing communities in regions such as Euskal Herria, Catalonia, Galicia, and Andalusia. However, a significant portion of the pro-Palestinian population in these regions does not support the Spanish National Team; they advocate for their own national identities and national teams.
Argentina, too, does not support Israel institutionally or at the national team level.
The country's far-right president, Javier Milei, is an open supporter of Israel. zionist circles use this fact to create the impression that there is some deep-rooted and societal alliance between Argentina and Israel.
In reality, there is no strong public support in Argentina for Israel's attacks on Gaza. On the contrary, massive demonstrations in solidarity with Palestine have taken place across the country.
Lionel Messi is not an open supporter of Israel either. When this is pointed out, people usually ask, “So does he support Palestine?” No. Messi is not one of the figures who has publicly taken a side on this issue. Like thousands of other footballers, he prefers not to share his political views publicly.
The claim that Argentine society is largely racist, as well as the claim that the vast majority of Argentinians support Israel, are both generalizations produced on social media. These are narratives that far-right groups and zionist circles would like to spread. We should not fall into this trap.
The hate Argentina got this tournament made me realize how easy it is to brainwash and program people. Would love to see someone publish work on this some day as it’s a very interesting case study.
@JPHilllllll European fouls South American: oh come on he lightly touched you, get up!
South American fouls European: HE ASSAULTED HIM!!!!
You will always see the latino as a dirty brute, thats how you’ve been taught to think of us
this is no different from Trumps anti-latino messaging
Argentina never got the respect they deserved.
I’ve never seen a national team receive this much hate for simply winning. Instead of giving credit to a team that has dominated world football for the last five years, social media became full of edited clips, AI-generated images, fake quotes, misleading posts and out-of-context videos, all made to discredit what this team achieved.
The worst part is that many people didn’t even care if it was true. If it got engagement, they shared it. If it pushed another anti-Argentina narrative, they believed it. That’s how low football discussion became. Imagine how empty your life has to be that your only way of getting attention is by spreading lies and fake propaganda about other people.
Every foul was analyzed frame by frame. Every referee decision became a conspiracy. Every victory had to come with an excuse. I’ve never seen another team get microanalyzed like this just because they kept winning.
A lot of this comes down to one thing: Lionel Messi, who is far better player than their favorite player, far better, far talented and achieved far more in the sport so as they see that Messi is better than their favorite player, instead of accepting it they looked for ways to discredit him and the team around him.
During this World Cup, people threw every label they could at Argentina. Racists. Zionists. Cheaters. Corrupt. All based on viral posts, fake quotes, edited clips or AI-generated content, without caring whether any of it was actually true.
They spent years trying to convince people that Argentina and these players didn’t deserve what they achieved.
The truth is that, they couldn’t accept that Lionel Messi and this generation reached a level their favorites never did.
No amount of propaganda can rewrite football history. And history will remember this Argentina team as one of the best international sides ever.
Lionel Messi is the exact reason you should live solely on your own terms.
The man speaks ill of no one. He disrespects neither teammates nor rivals. He is the best to ever do his craft. Yet he has dedicated haters. If ever a man (let alone a player) should have had no haters, it is Messi. Still, on account of nothing but his matchless success, he commands a horde of them.
Do what thou wilt. People will talk regardless.
A life lived minding what people will say is a wasted life.
I keep seeing this qt implying argentina is pro-israel but lets be rational:
who tweeted this? who benefits from being linked to a popular/successful team?
🇦🇷 cant control who supports them-the only political movement we care about is england’s illegal occupation of the malvinas
¿De verdad les tengo que explicar por qué rezo con todo mi corazón para que la Selección de Argentina gane esta noche y se meta en la final? 🇦🇷♥️
#ArgentinaVsInglaterra#ElijoCreer
@jhallwood nope, they are the descendants of those who liberated themselves from the colonizers
before the revolution, spain was stealing from the Americas to enrich themselves (the definition of colonialism)
after the revolutions they governed themselves, therefore were no longer colonies
@VERILYVERILY001@TrollFootball2 “abuse against the english” for using their platform to inform people about an illegal occupation in their sovereign land 😂
@ishaantharoor so you’re no longer a fan of argentina because the team had to beat smaller teams in order to make it to the final? is that not required?
@FelyxLawson@GloboTerraxe@lesbianeology do me a favor & don’t watch football any more, i’m glad you gave it a chance for the world cup but we’re good, you can watch something else
Welcome to neocolonialism. Everything that's not of the Global North is savagery, unethical, dirty, uncivilized. But if the global north is doing it, it's ethical, it's fair play, it's deserved. They've done the same to all Latam teams by the way. Keep fighting.
@salamFPL_@rayleigh225 what company? he went to palestine & israel as part of a UN sponsored Peace Tour with the rest of the Barcelona team in 2013 & people are using that picture to claim he’s secretly a zionist
Messi could not give a shit & the vast majority of argentina (>80%) is against Israel
@augustoz_@__nelav__ sos español? porque si haber ido a Israel y Palestina con el Barcelona FC como parte de un “Peace Tour” lo hace zionista entonces la mitad de tu equipo campeon del mundial en 2010 lo es también
