Would’ve preferred that such individuals be exempted entirely, or perhaps be given the option to serve through an alternative scheme—something like “NYSC 2.0”.

Muhammadu Buhari was born in December 1942 in Daura, Katsina State, Nigeria, into a large family as the 23rd and last child of his father, who had three wives, and the 13th child of his mother, Zulaihat. He lost his father at a young age, with no memory of his face, only recalling a painful experience of falling off a horse during a trip with his father and half-brother. Despite these early hardships, he recognized his potential to succeed beyond Daura. With support from his strict mother, instructors, and family, he overcame his fears of failure and developed mechanisms to cope with challenges. This fostered positive traits like tenacity, self-discipline, diligence, and hard work, shaping his life as a family man, soldier, and political leader. He early realized that his vision of "Great Buhari" required personal sacrifices, which he has paid through emotional, psychological, and physical debts, defining his unique leadership and citizenship in Nigeria since a tender age.
