@JPBWFarm So while responsibility for that untreated release would be placed at the door of the water company, situation complex because they can't control what people put in our drains. (Was invited on a Dwr Cymru tour of treatment plant last week)
@JPBWFarm Bacteria break down waste at most water treatment plants, if something enters the system that is poison to them, they die and water passes through untreated until water company can fix issue (or else waste would back up in pipes). Main things that kill them are milk and slurry.
@reviewwales@pengraiggoch Also, at the water treatment plant end, bacteria break down our waste and if something enters the system that is poison to them, they will die and waste will pass untreated. What kills them is mostly milk and slurry but also things like beer (issue from manufacturers in pandemic)
@reviewwales@pengraiggoch Not defending, but such a lot of misunderstanding about this. Combined sewage overflows open automatically to stop waste backing up into your house toilet, when there is a blockage in the pipe (wet wipes, fat) or too much water tp pass through the pipes (heavy rain)
@howemill@KintalineFarm OK fab, have found their website. I see someone else said current reading due to frosts, should we repeat the analysis throughout the year? Fascinating.
