A56 update ⚠️
We’ve updated our cycling and walking proposals for the A56 (Chester Road). We'd love to hear your thoughts on them! Click here to have your say https://t.co/DwTBKO39Fy
The consultation runs from 24 July to 10 September.
It would be very helpful to replace ALL the cones and return the active travel lanes to what they were at the end of lockdown.
Gaps, caused by vandalism and theft, in the protected provision deters wannabe cyclists.
A56 cones update:
The cones were removed overnight as part of a systematic theft - they were not removed by the council.
This has been reported to the police and we’ll be working with the police going forward on this matter.
👇
This is a good summary.
Positive steps by @traffordcouncil and @aidanjwilliams.
These initial plans could be enhanced a little further.
Be great to see Trafford Cycle Forum re-established and involved in these and other infrastructure plans.
Be bold and brave.

Couldn't get to the event myself.
Asked the same question re: online plans and comments.
@Boxrick It's Manchester, acutally.
Local Cllrs work really hard to improve active travel measures. At times seems an hard up hill task, even for them.
This route could be great link to/from Chorlton cycle way.
Salford is leading the way in transforming how we get about Greater Manchester
50% of journeys by public transport or active travel by 2040 can only be achieved with meaningful high quality schemes like this.
Our friends at Stretford In Bloom are planning another plant & Seed swap in the park on Sunday 13th March. More details soon! If you are able to help out on the day, do let us know.
@BloominStretty@StretfordM32
@A56Safety@Trafford_Labour@TraffordBlue@TraffordLibDems@traffordgreens Agree, something needs to happen.
Think I seen an image of a 4 lane road reduced to three with the 'centre' lane used for right turns to ensure traffic flow and 2mtr cycle lanes either side (maybe from @MCRCycleSam)
Could work along A56.
We’re encouraging more people to cycle and walk through a new Executive Agency body, #ActiveTravel England. 🚴 🚶
@Chris_Boardman will be leading the new body as the first interim national Active Travel Commissioner.

Something like this could work along the A56 through Sale to Altrincham, where the right turning traffic already interrupts traffic flow, which with some central pedestrian refuges, cloud create a route safe for everyone.
