Great news! We will be reopening this week. We will be working over the next few days modifying our bikeshare stations to comply with the County’s new guidelines and hope to have you riding again in time for the weekend!
Poor design doesn't excuse the criminal actions by the driver that killed a 14-year old boy in #BalHarbor.
However, when a road is designed like a highway don't be surprised when people drive at highway speeds.
RIP Ethan
Traffic crashes are the #1 global killer of kids and young adults aged 5-29 worldwide—even more than violence, drugs or disease. We need to lead by design and pave the road ahead with new possibilities.

"If you make more road space, you get more cars.
If you make more bike lanes, you get more bikes.
If you make more space for people, you get more people and of course, then you get public life."
-Jan Gehl (from @thehappycity)
"Rules that prohibit multifamily housing have divided America, keeping poor people out of prosperous suburbs... Cities like Newton chose to erect those barriers generations ago — and now they should choose to take them down." @GlobeOpinion@BostonGlobe

The US is so obsessed with prioritizing the automobile that creation of protected bike infrastructure like this (in Delft) is frowned upon. "There's a war on the car!"
But one will note that there's a healthy amount of space for auto users too. And everyone gets along just fine.
Interesting maps I found while researching for my book. Bridgeport, CT: Urban interstates and superblocks decimated downtown. A once dense, productive neighborhood was divided into several struggling districts that have yet to recover.
Now showing at @museumofgraff, The Fabric Of America: Artists in Protest, features works from over 30 South Florida artists all of which are created on denim jackets. For more information, visit: https://t.co/V5NW3AfyT1
A street grows in Brooklyn and, with it, a chance to build communities that support everyone. This is the change we need to see on our streets. @ShabazzStuart shares scenes of miracles breaking free in the car-free streets of Bed Stuy and Prospect Heights. https://t.co/ECTNSSMdtr
.@CommishEileen and I took public transit to Downtown Miami to go vote and you can too. It’s easy, fast, and convenient! Head to your closest early vote site this weekend from 8-4 to cast your ballot for change!
"Nothing in this world is more simple and more cheap than making cities that provide better for people." - Jan Gehl.
@humankindcity's new intervention in Tel Aviv, together with Nadel Roizin Architects and @Urban95cm is open and I love it!
Biked the two miles to Trader Joe's that most of my neighbors drive to and taught a few folks in line about the magic of e-bikes and the fact that more progressive cities are providing $$$ for people to purchase them.
@dontbuybluth@CityofMiami@downtownMIA FYI in @WynwoodMiami, the BID eventually created branded printed wrappers to cover the jersey barriers and make it look a lot nicer. We would still love to see entire streets pedestrianized though!
City of Miami Residents: applying fertilizer containing nitrogen or phosphorus to your lawn is prohibited June – Sept & heavily restricted otherwise to protect our environment. Glyphosate use on City property is also banned. Follow the rules & help protect Biscayne Bay.
Residents in #Rotterdam turned their street to a vacation street.🍹☀💺
Instead of parking cars: sitting people.
Instead of a road: a place to play, meet, and enjoy.
