@KhaledAbuToameh, a senior researcher at the Jerusalem Center for Security and Foreign Affairs (JCFA), and Lt. Col. (res.) Adv. @MauriceHirsch4, Director of the JCFA’s Palestinian Authority Accountability and Reform Initiative, warn that the proposed technocratic government for Gaza is in practice linked to the Palestinian Authority, which they say has still failed to carry out the reforms required of it.

Abu Toameh argues that “the Palestinian Authority remains the Palestinian Authority,” pointing to corruption, mismanagement, and nepotism.

Hirsch adds that the payment mechanism for terrorists has not disappeared but has merely changed form: “They will never stop paying salaries to terrorists... Now the only question is how best to conceal those payments.”

Both warn that if the United States intends to rely on the PA as part of a post-Hamas framework, it must demand tangible results rather than settle for promises of reform.
