“If we don’t change, I worry what will happen to our relationship with patients when they truly understand that they were asking for video consultations for years and we said it wasn’t possible, and then changed the whole system overnight, to protect ourselves.”
one remarkable thing I've learned as a health reporter is that racism actually makes people sick. being regularly subject to racism can even age you prematurely. so it is not a surprise that these protests come amid a health crisis that has disproportionately killed black people
@ASPphysician@LapointeShaw@globeandmail Some goals are worth striving for even if they aren’t achieved, because the outcome we get if we strive for the goal will be better than the outcome we get if we strive for something less. And possible that the goal will be achievable in the end - eg Kipchoge 2h marathon.
Just learned of the loss of Dr. Glenda MacQueen. Glenda was a collaborator and thesis committee member who I always admired deeply. A leader, physician, scientist, mother. Her brilliance, kindness, and impact will never be forgotten. #rip#ucalgarymed
The CSM community is deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Glenda MacQueen. We will miss her kindness, mentorship and willingness to put others ahead of herself. A message board has been set up in Glenda’s memory, and we encourage you to contribute here: https://t.co/05cTHIDRUK.
It isn’t a question of running and hiding. It’s resolving, along with our colleagues and neighbours and families, to take care of each other—all these invisible networks of care, preserved, counter-intuitively and just for a while, by distance. 10/11
