Today, 78 of the 532 Crown Court courtrooms across England and Wales are sitting empty — nearly 15%.

David Lammy needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Jury trials are not the problem; unused courtrooms are.

He claims slashing our right to trial by jury is the only way to reduce the Crown Court backlog of more than 80,000 cases, despite having no credible evidence to support that claim.

The answer is obvious: open the courts and save jury trials.
