A lot of the "bad" Sonic games have had their bad traits so comically exaggerated online for decades that they've warped people's entire perceptions of them when a lot don't really deserve it
This is the one exception. This port is legitimately THAT atrocious
One of the best Pokémon giveaways that so many fans missed out on?
When Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire launched, players who logged in early got handed something special through Mystery Gift, a shiny Beldum gifted by Steven himself, the Hoenn champion known for his Metagross. This little guy came holding a Metagrossite, the exact Megastone you need to turn it into a shiny Mega Metagross later on.
So you basically got a shortcut to one of the strongest, rarest Pokémon in the whole game. But the reason so many players ended up furious about this gift comes down to specific set dates that were used.
The Shiny Beldum was only available from November 21st, 2014 through to January 14th, 2015, which is less than two months. You could only claim one per copy of the game, and to get it, you had to open Mystery Gift, reload your save, then walk into a Pokémon Center where a delivery girl was waiting to hand it over.
But the timing of this whole event is exactly what set players up to lose it. The games came out during one of the busiest gaming windows ever, right next to the new Super Smash Bros. So tons of players were splitting their time and completely missed the news, and since the games were brand new, nobody expected a limited time giveaway this fast.
Once January 14th hit, that window slammed shut forever. So if you missed it, your only options left were trading with someone who got one, or shiny hunting a Beldum yourself, where the odds sit at around 1 in 4,096.
