How exactly are we supposed to industrialize Kenya with electricity costs like this?
EPRA has added KSh22.31 per unit in just five months:
May: KSh4.40
June: KSh3.87
July: KSh5.18
August: KSh4.70
September: KSh4.16
Compare that with our neighbours.
Tanzania: TZS292 per kWh for general users, roughly KSh 14.5 per unit. Cost for industrial users is even cheaper.
Ethiopia: about KSh2.45 per kWh (this is subsidized but still).
And Kenya has increased its cost by KSh22.31 in FIVE MONTHS ONLY. The increased cost is more than the cost of electricity for our neighbours.
Then they stand on podiums and talk about industrialization.
With what power? At what cost?
Factories need electricity. Manufacturing needs electricity.
Ama the best this 'leadership' can offer ni kazi ya mjengo?
This was one of my favorite quotes from that speech.
I hope Traore knows that he gives strength to people beyond his borders who don't get this kind of political engagement at home. I've had to keep reminding myself that my work is about the next generation. I've made peace with the fact that I won't be heard in my lifetime. So hearing him say this was so encouraging.
Edwin Sifuna can only be paired with David Maraga. He is the only man who matches his vision.
Any other candidate is not fit. They will all dilute what makes Sifuna stand out as a person.
I have said it before and I will repeat. Maraga-Sifuna candidature is what will save us.
Unpopular opinion but Miguna Miguna is the only person capable to lead the jailing and recovery of every single cent, land etc stolen by the home guards since independence. Imagine Uhuru and Raila teamed up to kick him out of Kenya for his revolutionary ideas. Why were they so afraid of him?
Voting for @WilliamsRuto is voting for the government, power, and the status quo. Voting for @dkmaraga is voting for the state; for Kenya beyond individuals and political interests. This time, let us stay guided by the future we want, not the power we fear.
Stop this mimicry. You are not in the same Whatsapp group as us citizens. Go to parliament and pass a law. And then discuss how we get a tram system. Matutus should be being phased out. Artists can still do their art work on the trams. In fact they'll have a lot more space to paint.

They've engineered the silence because they fear you more than they fear any judge. An informed public is their worst nightmare. So read the filings. Track the hearings. Ask the hard questions. The @IMFAfrica@KeTreasury, @NAssemblyKE, and every pen that signed these loans must answer.
Some politicians waiting in the wings will not speak because they hope to inherit the same broken system. To those seeking office: this is a test of principle. You cannot inherit a system you refuse to question.
We don't need their headlines to know our rights. The Constitution didn't give us a voice to whisper. The front page isn't theirs to give. It's ours to demand. Stay loud. Stay informed. The law is on our side
