Changes in anxiety, quality of life, and functioning following psilocybin-assisted therapy in veterans with treatment-resistant depression

@Zetaboy69@BellevueDoc I believe your definition of support matters here. Are you more so referring to reintegration?
It sounds like psychological support was there if needed, but they didn’t have specific support available as part of the treatment. Just as people needed assistance they’d provide it
@Zetaboy69@BellevueDoc I would say they are pursuing this no psychotherapy model to show that the drug works on its own. In the real world all of these patients are going to be seeing a therapist in some way during and throughout treatment. More than likely referred to this treatment by a therapist.
Psychedelics have vast potential to help millions of patients with mental illness. But they aren’t without risks (via @opinion) https://t.co/f91Rt0lNBY
As always, stellar reporting from @Psyched_Alpha. There is a lot of potential for psychedelics to treat addiction.
Along with treating addiction, many with substance use disorders have co-occurring mental health conditions and/or experience mood and anxiety symptoms as seen in post acute withdrawal.
There is a lot of potential in standalone depression and trauma for these compounds, but I happen to be most optimistic of their potential in both substance and behavioral addictions, when used with appropriate psychosocial support.
@itsmarkmoran I don’t think the compensation level is why they take back door donations and go corrupt. Many of them are simply greedy and no amount of upfront compensation would change that. PACs are more of an issue, imo.
Oregon’s psilocybin services (~$3000 at the higher end) are often described as quite expensive. But when making this claim, we should ask: expensive compared to what?
