A Zimbabwean couple who found love on TikTok has found itself at the centre of a heated social media debate after the husband, Logan, revealed plans to potentially launch a GoFundMe campaign to raise money towards bringing his wife, Star, to the United Kingdom.

The couple, who recently tied the knot after meeting through TikTok, are now facing the challenge of reuniting in the UK, where Logan is based. During a TikTok LIVE, Logan reportedly explained that the process would require significant financial resources, including money towards the spousal visa and other related costs.

Logan told viewers that he was considering starting a GoFundMe campaign where supporters could voluntarily contribute towards the couple’s goal of getting Star to the UK.

However, the idea has quickly attracted criticism from some Zimbabweans online, with detractors questioning why members of the public should donate towards the couple’s relocation when there are numerous Zimbabweans facing serious financial hardships and other challenges.

Some critics argued that donations should instead be directed towards people dealing with medical emergencies, struggling families, children in need and other pressing social problems.

Others, however, have defended Logan and Star, arguing that a GoFundMe campaign is voluntary and that people should be allowed to decide for themselves whether they want to support the couple.

@BillyC744 @CoffindafferFBI From my research and understanding the GoFundMe proceeds did not go to the foundation used those funds to rebuild his life, pay medical and funeral bills, and relocate. EVERYTHING else has gone directly into the foundation
He💯 used the GFM $ as he should and was open about it.
