@MutwiriMutuota@KarauriR@SportPesa Now that your friend and his company are all here, what is his track record as a politician?
How has he transformed Kasarani? How articulate has he been in parliament? What laws has he championed? Has he ever taken any stand on national, Nairobi issues?
Karauri. Babu. Gakuya. All unimpressive.
Why does Nairobi County attract low quality politicians?
Kidero, Sonkoree, Sakaja all failed badly. Chaos.
Time to give up on devolution in Nairobi?
Can we try Metropolitan ministry or company?
A plan needed. Kigali can be benchmark.
@W_Asherah I watched a Tiktok where a therapist was saying the over-consumption of digital media and pop culture/media has led to the loss of nuance...increased 1D and black and white thinking.
One of her solutions is to read more fiction (to develop empathy & nuance) & reduce socials.
I think shida ya watu ni kuwatch American movies excess.
So they're looking for a one dimensional victory. It has to be clear cut - they fought and kicked them out.
Problem is - it's always more complicated than that. Everything in life is. There's very little 1D narratives.
You just won a 2-week, all-expenses-paid vacation to Europe. But there’s a catch: you have to stay within one region the whole time. What are you picking?
Africans, we have to start looking at sports as a business! Sports is not for entertainment, national pride or pass time; it is a biz 1ST, those are its output! When we shift to that view, we'll change our structures, policies, all the way to talent identification and development
All this talk across the continent of the untapped power of the youth, yet the low-hanging fruit around us is ignored or treated with contempt. Strategic investment in the arts and sports could be such an easy win for politicians. Hope springs eternal.
That anyhowness in Sports and Sports Infrastructure is how endless sheds have been built across Kenya in past decade and named "international stadiums" and how the unnecessary and costly Talanta Stadium was built.
No plans, no foresight, just vibes and looting. Sigh.
Many African Governments treat the Ministry(ies) of Arts, Sports & Culture as the graveyard shift, sending has-beens there to mark time. Zero strategy & foresight as to what the industries of sports & the arts can do to transform economies. The tragedy of a culture of anyhowness
@Mzinduzi Over last 12 years UhuRuto error has degraded the solemnity of national days by turning them into partisan events. Such a shame.
Over same 12 years the economy has taken a hit, no money in pockets, cue folk working over national holidays and even Christmas.
Free fall.
Can't stand That Man. So I don't watch or listen to him ever.
Didn't listen to Jayden either by end of his 10.
National Day celebrations were a must watch for pomp and pageantry.
UhuRuto error turned them into party rallies held in expensively built sheds across Kenya. Sigh.
Just 11 years ago, in 2015, Equatorial Guinea hosted the Africa Cup of Nations. 🇬🇶
Fast forward to 2026, and the country does not have a single CAF-approved stadium to host even preliminary-round matches in interclub competitions.
THE PANTHERS FC have now withdrawn from the CAF Confederation Cup due to the financial burden of playing their matches abroad.
Some African football federations must be ashamed of themselves.
It is not just about investing in football infrastructure, but also maintaining it to meet the required standards.
What is the point of building stadiums if they cannot be maintained? 🤦🏾♂️
#AfricanFootball #CAFCCwithMicky #EquatorialGuinea
Africa doesn't need mega-stadiums.For Uganda,10,000-20,000 seater stadiums are the most viable and sustainable in terms of maintenance.
Across the continent, many 40k+ stadiums are now dilapidated due to high maintenance costs.
Let's build what we can sustainably manage.
Someone has replied "Mulika Mwizi" on the K24 post of That Man being fried by the sun in the incomplete shed that is Kipchoge Keino. Eh!
Kenyans are tired, hilarious 😂😂😂
Tragicomic! 🤣
This govt's incompetence, corruption in HD.
Kamariny, "which is historic and that will be ready in 6 months" (in 2017) was original host but there's nothing there.
So Mashujaa Day was moved to Kipchoge Keino, under renovation for years, and still a shed. Aibu.
The real tragedy of living in a third-world country is that you can do everything right and still struggle because the environment is designed to make ordinary things unnecessarily difficult.
Kalonzo has a historical chance to enable dramatic generational shift in Kenyan politics.
Does he have the gravitas to cede ground for greater good over individual glory? Will his hangers on and peers let him? Let's see 👀 🕒
This! Gerontocracy Preservation: In political science, when an aging ruling class (a gerontocracy) actively resists yielding power to younger leaders, driven by the fear that generational shift will dismantle their established norms, policies, and institutional control.
Realpolitik v Idealism.
Voting to have a chance at winning v Voting to have a moral high ground.
Politics and winning is about kwa ground reality.
You have to deal with voter who is there and politics that's there. Not hope for an ideal world, candidate, voter. Reality check.
@jchelagat Can't imagine having to report on the endless lies and nonsense. Sigh.
I even stopped listening to Bunge proceedings because quality of speakers and members is so low hence shoddy debates and laws.
