@gracemonkey1971@TedRall Well tbh I don’t believe either invented anything. I believe that all the main -ism exists in a type of harmony and when one over power the others to elevate itself civilization collapses.
And they apart of all societies; people only identified them in books.
@MarxistObs@TedRall They are “allowed” because it’s technically legal and consumers allow it. Tbf consumers are usually kept unaware of these practices. Agreed this needs to change but it’s not capitalism. Looks like it but it’s not it’s the denial of responsibility and accountability.
@MarxistObs@TedRall So does every government and ism ever. 🤷🏻♂️ Toe the line or else, that is unfortunately the cost of civilization. But the same principle applies even if completely off grid.
@MarxistObs@TedRall Free time given because every choice made has a cost. And the cost of those choices, bills, is giving up our free time for labor. If the government steps in to give us more free time despite our choices our taxes go up substantially. Everything has a cost and counterbalance.
@MarxistObs@TedRall And it’s a sick practice agreed. Cutting corners like this is disgusting. And why are they allowed to keep doing this? We the consumer keep “voting” for by continued purchases.
@MarxistObs@TedRall You know, unrelated, but the most time I ever spent without a job was when I unionized and had to strike. No one paid my bills or fed my kids. Anyway.
Harvard did a study, 20 yr long, about how Congress cares about the lobbying money. It’s quite interesting. Very eye opening.
@MarxistObs@TedRall When and if I’ve ever used my brain is none of your concern. Everyone, no exceptions, uses the market. All corporations, even governments, do not magically produce materials or services, they all originated somewhere else.
@MarxistObs@TedRall Then why are restaurants running on razor thin margins where 80 something percent fail within a year? Thought competition bred profits. Plenty of competition in restaurants.
@MarxistObs@TedRall Agreed. Companies do make large amounts and percentages of profits and it’s not cool cause it’s trendy to cut corners and we accept that by continued purchases.
But they don’t print money. Who controls when an if money is printed?
Who subsidizes some companies over others?
@MarxistObs@TedRall If only, if only. Companies want their products purchased and adjust prices according to competition/comparable. No one would raise a price of something purely for profit only. Take minimum wage. Every time it’s gone up within a few years so has everything else. But why?
@TedRall Victim of bullying here, lost money and items this way. Never had an adult or another child fighting for me against bullies. Got rid of them with capitalist ideas. I chose to fight or befriend them. Point is: I had a choice & I accepted the consequences , bloody noses and all.
@MarxistObs@TedRall One: that’s one sided story btw. Two: all bills are, besides maybe groceries, chosen, not forced on someone without a type of contract. And inflation is caused by government printing money for things instead of fiscal responsibility.
@MarxistObs@TedRall You got a point. Though struggle against? One can work more or less than 40 hours. It isn’t not forced on anyone. It is the accepted practice though. Has nothing to do with grace or struggle.
@jyn_urso So what do you suggest? Clean nuclear? Not fossil fuel. It’s clean, efficient, and provides ample energy in a small package. France had over 90% of its energy this way but due to flawed governance the government chose to decommission several. They’ve had it for yrs safetly.
