🇵🇰 Former PM Imran Khan’s sons say they’re genuinely scared they could lose their father in prison.

Kasim and Sulaiman spoke to Sky Sports at Lord’s, with their father’s portrait hanging right behind them. They haven’t seen him since 2022 and haven’t even spoken to him since March.

And what they’re describing is brutal.

They say he now spends more than 23 hours a day alone in a small cell, has lost 80% of the vision in one eye and is struggling with his health.

Kasim: “They are just blatantly trying to kill him in there.”

Even after the Supreme Court ordered him moved to a private hospital, his sons say he was taken to a government facility for a few hours and then sent straight back to jail.

The government of course denies mistreating him and says he has food, books, TV and space to exercise.

And here’s where it gets even more frustrating. After his sons spoke about all of this, the Pakistan Cricket Board complained to Sky over the interview.

Forget the politics for a second. These are two sons who just want to see their dad, talk to him and know if he’s okay.

🇵🇰 Pakistan's Supreme Court ordered Imran Khan moved to hospital. He was back in his cell within hours, and the whole episode captures exactly how his three years in custody have gone.

The backstory: Khan, 73, has been jailed since August 2023 on corruption convictions he and his party call politically motivated.

Concerns have built for months over his health, fluctuating blood pressure, anxiety the jail's own cardiac board linked to restricted family contact, and reported vision loss in one eye that first surfaced back in February.

Last week the Supreme Court ordered him transferred to Shifa International Hospital within 48 hours for an independent medical board assessment, with family access and calls to his sons abroad.

The government fought the order and even tried a review petition. When the transfer finally happened, Khan was diverted to a different, state-run hospital, PIMS, over what officials called a "security situation."

A six-doctor team, including a cardiologist and ophthalmologist, examined him overnight and declared him fit to remain in custody. By 5am he was back in Adiala jail.

@PTIofficial calls the whole sequence a violation of the court's order.

What makes this more than a routine prison-health story: Khan was Pakistan's elected prime minister until a 2022 no-confidence vote, and his imprisonment has become the central fault line in a country where the military has historically held the real levers of power.

Courts have sided with him on paper repeatedly, this is now at least the third medical order in a year, while the practical outcome each time is identical: examined, cleared, returned to the same cell.

The pattern itself, a former PM's health becoming a recurring legal battle rather than a settled fact, says something about how contested power actually is in Pakistan right now.

For three years the father of my two sons, and Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, has been brutally penalised by his political opponents, in a personal vendetta by Army Chief, Asim Munir,  which according to the UN,  amounts to torture and which  is now taking a potentially fatal toll on his physical and mental health. 

He has endured 3 years of solitary confinement. For nearly ten months now his family has been denied contact with him. He has been deprived of the most basic human contact, denied access to books, lawyers and doctors.

The international human-rights standards are unequivocal. Under the UN’s Nelson Mandela Rules, solitary confinement lasting more than 15 consecutive days is prohibited and amounts to torture.

He has endured this treatment not for 15 days, but for three years.

Pakistan’s own Supreme Court has now intervened: ordering comprehensive  medical treatment, access to his personal doctor, regular family visits and twice-weekly calls with his sons.

Yet those orders are being defied.

This is no longer simply a Pakistani political matter. It is a human-rights emergency.

He has deep and lifelong ties to Britain. He studied at Oxford University, captained Oxford University cricket and spent years playing county cricket in England. His relationship with this country stretches back more than half a century. His charitable activities were internationally recognised, and  include building the only free cancer hospital in Pakistan as well as a university.

His sons, my two boys, Sulaiman and Kasim, are British citizens. They have been forced to watch their father’s health decline from thousands of miles away, prevented from visiting him, denied visas, publicly threatened by government officials with arrest themselves, and even denied court-mandated regular phone calls. 

I have repeatedly appealed to the UK government to intervene. Purported attempts at back channelling have evidently failed. The previous Foreign Secretary @DavidLammy informed me in writing that Britain would not  intervene if my sons, British citizens, are arrested when they travel to Pakistan to visit their father. 

@FCDOGovUK: Britain must now speak out publicly and unequivocally. Demand that Pakistan comply with its own Supreme Court;  restore Imran Khan’s medical access, his right to see his family, end his prolonged isolation and uphold his fundamental human rights.

Pakistan is a Commonwealth country. Britain has a long and proud tradition of standing against arbitrary detention, inhumane treatment and the denial of fundamental rights. Those principles mean very little if we invoke them only selectively and neglect them when inconvenient.
This an appeal to the new Burnham government  to please now do the right thing.

🇵🇰 Imran Khan is back behind bars at Adiala Jail, hours after an overnight medical check in Islamabad.

The Supreme Court ordered he be moved to a private hospital over concerns about his health, including vision problems, unstable blood pressure, and anxiety.

It also ordered him kept at the hospital until his next hearing on Sept. 16.

He got a few hours at a state-run hospital instead, and was back in his cell by 5am.

The government had called the court's order discriminatory and filed a review petition, then cited PTI crowds as the reason for switching hospitals.

His supporters accuse the government of lying, saying Imran was taken to the wrong hospital under false pretenses and held there barely 2 hours before being sent back.

Vision, heart, blood pressure, anxiety, a full workup on a 73-year-old, all wrapped up in a couple of hours. No wonder his supporters don't trust the verdict.

🇵🇰 IMRAN KHAN TELLS HIS SISTER HE IS FACING WORSE THAN PHYSICAL TORTURE

Uzma Khan (Imran Khan’s sister) is used to seeing her brother act strong, even while locked inside Adiala Jail (high-security prison in Pakistan).

He normally walks into their brief visits with a smile, trying to protect his family from worry.

But this time, something was off the moment he sat down.

Uzma says he told her the mental torture of solitary confinement had become worse than anything physical.

He was angry, shaken, and focused on one thing: making sure she told the outside world who he believes is behind his treatment.

Their meeting barely lasted long enough for her to update him on what had happened during the four weeks he’d been cut off.

For her, it was a shock, she had never seen him like this.

"He told me the mental torture from solitary confinement is worse than physical torture.

Every time he comes he is smiling, as if he’s coming out of his own bedroom, but this time he was very angry and very disturbed.

He asked me to tell everybody that Asim Munir is responsible, and if anything happens to him.

For four weeks he said total isolation, nobody to meet him, and there are about six cameras around his cell so no policeman can talk to him.

I have never seen him so angry and so upset before."

Message from former Prime Minister Imran Khan from prison - October 1st, 2025

“The second fabricated Toshakhana case is being hurriedly pushed through in court. Only a few weeks ago, the testimony of the prosecution’s primary witness was exposed as false before the court. Thereafter, my former Military Secretary Brigadier Ahmed and Deputy Military Secretary Colonel Rehan also confirmed that all documentation of gifts was completed strictly in accordance with the rules. All lawyers agree that this case should have been dismissed at the outset by the judge. Despite this, a maliciously motivated and fabricated case continues to be carried forward.

Similarly, another fabricated case against me, the so-called “Cipher Case” - which is the most expensive case in Pakistan’s history, on which tens of millions of the people’s money from the national exchequer has been wasted - proved so weak before the High Court that it should not have survived at the trial court in the first place.

A third major case was manufactured about the Al-Qadir University Trust. Al-Qadir is a welfare-oriented educational institution whose objective is to provide both scientific and religious education to the youth. It was established a year before the funds sanctioned by the Supreme Court were remitted. Yet, by raising absurd questions against a charitable institution, a baseless case was fabricated which had already been dismissed at the trial court stage. Since January, we have been seeking a hearing date in the Islamabad High Court, and now, after ten months, the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, Justice Dogar, has scheduled it to be heard on the 16th of October (2025).

The undue haste being shown by Judge Arjumand in the Toshakhana-II case has an underlying motive: to deliver a conviction in this case, so that even if bail is granted in the Al-Qadir case, it would not be possible for me to be released. It is noteworthy that in the past twelve years, three Toshakhana-related cases have all been before this same judge. By law, vehicles cannot be taken from the Toshakhana, yet Nawaz Sharif unlawfully took a bulletproof Mercedes, Asif Zardari illegally extracted three vehicles, and Maryam Nawaz, after unlawfully acquiring a vehicle, neither declared it nor showed it in her tax returns. All of this is on record with irrefutable evidence, yet their cases are not being taken up at all, while a selective and baseless trial against me for lawfully acquired gifts is being fast-tracked.

In the Al-Qadir Trust case, since Zulfi Bukhari persistently refused to give false testimony against me, his property in Pakistan is now being auctioned, due to political vendetta. This is the worst example of political victimization. This lawlessness is what I call “Asim Law”. Decisions in the country today are dictated by whether one is aligned with or opposed to “Asim Law”.

If you stand with Asim Law, miracles can take place. No matter how massive your wheat scandal may be, no one questions you. If you illegally obtain cars from Toshakhana, no case is filed against you. Whether it is the sugar mafia or the land mafia, as long as you are under the umbrella of Asim Law, you remain untouchable. But if you stand against Asim Law, then fabricated cases are concocted against you, you are thrown into prison, and you and your family are subjected to every conceivable form of injustice unprecedented in this nation’s history.

I wish to convey this message to my Pakistanis: the very foundations of moral and judicial values in Pakistan have been torn apart. If you do not rise today for your rights and for the rule of law, the times ahead will be catastrophic. Injustice and fascism will further devastate the economy. In the past three years alone, more than three million Pakistanis have left the country. The policies of the incompetent and fraudulent government have inflicted irreparable damage upon the economy: textile mills are shutting down exports, and the poor masses are rapidly falling below the poverty line.

🚨🇵🇰 IMRAN KHAN ACCUSES ARMY CHIEF OF DICTATORSHIP AND TYRANNY

Imran Khan compared Gen. Asim Munir to Yahya Khan, accusing him of strangling democracy.

He points out that Gen. Munir crushed PTI through the May 9th and February 8th crackdowns, subjugating judges and silencing the media.

He claimed Munir is provoking Afghanistan with expulsions and drone strikes to pose as a “mujahid” for Western approval, while Pakistan’s economy faces record debt and zero foreign investment.

Khan alleged psychological torture of himself and Bushra Begum, saying that women, children, and the elderly are suffering unprecedented abuses under Munir’s rule.

Kasim Khan, son of ex-PM Imran Khan, has filed an urgent appeal to the UN, alleging his father is being held in conditions “comparable to a death cell” in Adiala Jail - torture, isolation, denial of rights, the works.

No doctor for nearly a year. Months without seeing his children. Lawyers blocked.

Meanwhile, Bushra Bibi, Khan’s wife, is allegedly stuck in overcrowded quarters, drinking contaminated water, facing electric shocks from faulty wiring - and denied visits too.

This isn’t just a bad prison story. It’s a systematic gutting of the opposition.

Khan’s PTI party has been crushed - over 100 senior members reportedly slapped with 10-year sentences, trials behind closed doors, justice delivered off the record.

Imran Khan was ousted in 2022, arrested in 2023. His downfall triggered nationwide protests and drew international fire.

A UN working group already called his detention “arbitrary and unlawful.”

Now, new petitions warn it’s crossed into torture territory - an “open attack on democracy.”

And then there’s the quote that lands like a hammer...

Kasim Khan:

“When an elected leader is kept in a death cell, denied medical care, and cut off from his children… it shows that no one is safe.”

This isn’t just about one man rotting in a jail cell. It’s about how far a state will go to crush dissent.

After enduring three years of oppression and tyranny… our people were directly fired upon, and even our opposition leaders in parliament were disqualified, after that, there is no room left for negotiations.

“I appeal to the people of Pakistan to take part, with their customary zeal, in the ongoing rescue and relief efforts amidst the tragic floods engulfing the country. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will also play its role for the flood-affected without any discrimination.

I have always endeavored to raise awareness regarding climate change and the devastation it brings. Earlier, we launched the “Billion Tree Project” in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upon coming into the federal government, initiated the “Ten Billion Tree Project.” Alongside this, we began work on several vital environmental protection initiatives, including small, medium, and large-scale dams as well as national parks, which have helped mitigate ecological destruction. Trees are the true guardians of the environment. Rapid progress on such projects must be made a national priority.

My heart is deeply grieved by the loss of lives and devastation caused by the earthquake in Afghanistan. We stand firmly with our Afghan brothers in this hour of trial. I also express profound concern and sorrow over the forced expulsion of Afghans from Pakistan.

Drone strikes and military operations against our own people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa must come to an immediate halt. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and the provincial government must vigorously resist such actions. Those regions are already reeling under the destruction of floods; in such circumstances, launching operations, drone attacks, or displacements is akin to rubbing salt into fresh wounds.

In light of my directions, the decision of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to boycott the by-elections is commendable. The candidates who have withdrawn their nomination papers also deserve appreciation, as do the members who have resigned from the parliamentary committees. I further instruct them that if they have any vehicles or privileges still in use, they must return them immediately. The final date of the Peshawar rally shall be decided in consultation during September, keeping in view the flood situation.

For three years, despite enduring oppression and coercion, and despite being on the side of truth, I called for dialogue in the national interest. Yet, political vengeance was taken to its extreme against me and my family. Our people were fired upon with live bullets, and even our Opposition Leader in the Parliament was disqualified. No space for dialogue remains after such actions.

They may imprison me or whomever they wish from my family but neither shall I retreat from my stance, nor will I bow before them.”
