The U.S. Constitution was written in the same PA State House where the Declaration of Independence was signed and where Washington received his commission as Commander of the Continental Army. Now called Independence Hall, the building stands on Independence Mall in Philadelphia.

This month we highlight Patriot, Lt. Daniel Warner, born June 25, 1745 in Ipswich, MA, and died March 20, 1813 in Amherst, NH. Lt. Warner served in the New Hampshire forces under Quartermaster Col. Moses Nicholas, and in General William Whipple’s brigade. #patriots #america250

In the Washington Crossing Historic Park are 23 Revolutionary War soldiers’ graves. Washington Crossing DAR members decorated wreaths with natural elements and placed them on the graves to honor the soldiers. #todaysdar #daughtersoftheamericanrevolution #washingtoncrossingpark

Each year the Washington Crossing Chapter decorates a tree in the foyer of the Washington Crossing Historic Park Visitors Center. Go see and enjoy it! The ornaments honor the names of Revolutionary War Patriots of chapter members and includes colonial-style wreath ornaments.

The Washington Crossing Chapter DAR recognized a community group for outstanding work. On November 16, the Langhorne Community Memorial Association received the DAR Excellence in Historic Preservation Award for its efforts to preserve the Richardson House in Langhorne, PA.

The Washington Crossing Chapter DAR recognized a local teacher for outstanding work. Maggie May, chair of the Social Studies Department at Villa Joseph Marie High School, Holland, PA, received the DAR Outstanding Teacher of American History award at the November meeting.

Peter Sones was born in 1755 and died in 1850. In his pension application he asserted that he enlisted in 1776 in the company of Capt. Jacob Mouser, under Col. Lutz as commander of the "Flying Camp" and served under Washington after the Battle of Long Island. #patriots

President Benjamin Harrison (1889-1893), husband of DAR first President General Caroline Scott Harrison, ordered the American flag to be flown above the White House and other government buildings and urged schools to do the same. #oldglory #flytheflag #todaysdar

At the Constitutional Convention, the delegates decided to keep everything secret from the public and the newspapers. This ensured they could speak their minds with their opinions. Shutters were closed and sentries guarded the doors. After 4 months, the Constitution was written.

In 1767, the boundary between Maryland and Pennsylvania was surveyed by Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon, to settle border disputes. Today’s Mason-Dixon Line is a demarcation line that forms part of the borders of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and West Virginia.
