Did you know? Only 40% of waste is properly collected and managed, while the remaining 60% is dumped in unauthorized places like drainage channels, wetlands and open spaces causing pollution, flooding and toxic fumes that harm both people and the environment.
One of the biggest solutions is educating the public about proper waste management practices, including waste segregation at source. Separating biodegradable waste, plastics, bottles and other materials can help reduce pollution, improve recycling and keep our communities cleaner and healthier. ♻️

Did you know that poor plastic disposal is fueling Uganda’s climate crisis?
Every day, plastics are dumped in trenches, scattered in open spaces, or burnt in the air we breathe. This careless disposal block drainage systems, contaminates soils, poisons water sources, and releases toxic gases when burnt worsening both human health and climate change.
Single-use plastics are the main cause. They don’t disappear, instead, they break down into microplastics that enter our food, water, and even the air we breathe. These tiny particles disrupt ecosystems, harm wildlife, and silently threaten human life.
Wasteplus refuses to watch this crisis grow. We collect discarded plastics and recycle them into valuable products showing that waste can be turned into opportunity. Our work reduces pollution, creates green jobs, and inspires communities to take action.
Out of 400 applications from Uganda and Tanzania, Our Communications Lead Faridah Mbabazi was selected as one of the Spark Changemakers by DW Akademie. Thank you @WastePlus

🚨Today's Updates
We had a field trip to @WastePlus organized through the @Fridays4FutureU Annual Youth Climate Mentorship program,
where we gained practical insights into sustainable #waste management and circular economy practices...
Plastic waste isn’t just a challenge—it’s an opportunity to build a greener future. At @WastePlus, we transform discarded plastics into high-quality recycled materials, reducing pollution and conserving energy.
By recycling, we cut greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90% compared to producing new plastic. Our process—collecting, sorting, washing, and recycling—drives a circular economy, turning waste into valuable resources.
Join us in reshaping the future. Choose sustainability. Support recycling. Together, we create cleaner communities and a healthier planet.
