Judith Bosboom successfully defended her PhD thesis on
Quantifying the quality of coastal morphological predictions today. Congratulations to Dr. Bosboom! Thesis available here: https://t.co/HXFuAmCjQ5
Martijn Henriquez successfully defended his PhD thesis on the Onshore Sandbar Migration in the Nearshore yesterday. Congratulations! We wish you all the best for your future! with support from @NWO_TTW
One of our 5th year master courses is Hydraulic Fieldwork. This year the students had a rainy, stormy week on the Sand Engine and a visit of @VroegeVogels national radio. This is a student perspective on it: https://t.co/pVl9yHpqwn
Over 5 years of hard work in the @NWO Perspectief Program @NatureCoast summarized in a well illustrated book! It discusses governance, marine/dune development and animal life at the Sand Engine. With interviews of public and private stakeholders on pro/cons and global potential.
Bas Huisman successfully defended his PhD thesis on the Redistribution and Sorting of Sand at Nourishments this week. Congratulations! We wish you all the best for your future! with support from @ERC_Research and @Deltares
Suspended, floating particles of sand and silt can make our coastal waters very turbid and change the height of the seafloor. During a 2 week boat campaign with #NIOZ, Erik, Lin, Yuning and Pieter took watersamples close to the coast understand this behavior.
New open access paper out by Luijendijk et al.! It compares accelerated numerical modelling techniques (and shows a promising new one!) for forecasting coastal interventions. @NatureCoast@deltares
Just few days for #EGU19!
Join us to the session OS2.3/GM11.13 'Nearshore processes: fluid motions and sediment transport' on Monday 8th April 8:30-10:15! 🌊🏖️@EGU_Ocean@EGU_GM@timothydprice See you all in Vienna!!!
New open access paper out by Huisman et al.! It displays the behavior of shoreface nourishments by comparing a data of 19 different nourishments and forecasting using a efficient modelling technique.

What better way to celebrate #WorldOceansDay by showing a glimpse on how currents and waves move sand on the seafloor!! Important to learn about for the safety and ecology of our coast and 🌍 as a whole. A @GoPro movie of the @hydralabplus experiment @TotEnvSimulator#FlumeFriday
MODEX day 23: What a difference between the development of our mound for waves or currents! We ran currents only this week and saw ripples slowly migrating. Accelerated movie through the side of the @TotEnvSimulator flume below! #FlumeFriday#RippleMigration#Science#access
