On release I may look into the full game a little to see if they use any obscure NW features. I will make corrections if I got any of this slightly wrong. But the game probably won't have much that interests me specifically.
From the update data we can surmise Zelda Echoes of Wisdom is on a continuation of Grezzo's custom engine found in the Link's Awakening remake. They use standard NintendoWare atk, g3d, ui2d, and vfx. Not the sequels. They seem to have yoinked PhysX 3.4 from Bezel 1 for physics.
Looked at Nintendo Switch Sports 1.5.0 internals, the code is now about 10% Basketball, and there are now a few hundred new basketball related files. Separate staff credits for bball, the original update cycle ended in March 2023. Not much else of note. Weird but welcome bonus.
>Lies dormant for a year and a half
>Outsells Splatoon 3
>Gets content extension
>Adds mode that had remnants datamined a long time ago
>In true Switch Sports fashion they don't commit to a release date
I will look at the update when it happens. Our first ModuleSystem title btw.
For minor clarification. BCAT is a service which can ship and cache a set of game files from the server, used in games like Splatoon 3 for the in-game schedule. Endless Ocean's in-game events can have special map layouts, I think. Entities seem to be the name of Bezel's Actors.
Endless Ocean is Bezel Engine 2 v0-2_4_0. First Bezel 2 title I've seen. I have to update my Bezel Engine Archive extractor to get at the files.
>Still not using G3d2 library for models (just G3d)
Damn, still looks neat so I'll poke at it for a bit.
Extracted the files. The game, or maybe engine, has an AI behavior tree system in JSON. Seems event map layouts and Entity data can ship over BCAT. PhysX is 4.1.1 where I know the past Bezel titles I've seen and Mario Vs DK used 3.4. Neat, but probably not looking at it more.
@Polmo97 Essentially, gluing actors with ultrahand creates a relationship. The steering stick ai broadcasts it's influence to the other actors. Wheel ai would then use the data sent to drive a motor on itself, relying on the physics constraints between all the actors to drive the car.
I recently reversed a lot of Phive, their in-house physics library. Actors are composed of components, the physics component composes a tree of physics controllers (which the game ai can adjust). Totk's field objects do indeed commit to dynamic motion types, fewer kinematics.
Nintendo Network death is a tragedy. I will never forgive them. I have had a worse experience with NSO all around, but what's important is that even for $20 a year, it's no doubt going to face the same fate. It's hard to continue to care about transient live services.
Noticing a lot of 2d extensions not found in the other ModuleSystem games so far. As someone who is following ModuleSystem closely I will be looking into this game.
I love Warioware. It's exefs is around SDK version 14, Bezel is still using g3d instead of g3d2, so I'm probably not going to bother looking too much into this one. Someday a Bezel game with g3d2 will happen, surely (might be too late).
Mario Wonder waiting room. I am coming to a close on ainb documentation I don't want to delve into another library like asb or phive before the next ModuleSystem game lol. It'll be more work if there are breaking file format updates.
@KazeEmanuar Assuming no PC, internet, or mods, but built-in console software, foregoing electricity and console concerns, with game prices at msrp. Mario 64 VC. Nintendo Selects, Brawl, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Mario Maker 3ds. Dreams PS4. Bird & Beans DsiWare, $8 for cheap puzzle games.
@NWPlayer123 I wouldn't be miffed if the super resolution aspect smoothed over dynamic res situations, or was an option to cheat higher res for those who want/need that. Ideally I prefer games target a respectable native resolution as their baseline.
>FZero99 is made by NST instead of Akira
>Instead of Bezel Engine it uses AL (ActionLibrary or whatever)
>3d World used AL, which NST worked on the port of
>The AL version seems closer to 3d World's then it does to the version found in the menu of 3d All Stars
@NWPlayer123 Tears of the Kingdom does many funny things to squeeze the file size down, presumably to increase IO throughput. Curious if any of that would be backported.
