This film was shot over a “Flat” seabed, not sure which bright spark thought that they can neatly trim the kelp while working from a boat in a swell using a mechanical dredge and not damage the environment.

It is no longer a rational or acceptable argument, put forward repeatedly by scallop dredging interests,that they need to retain open access for the sake of the socio economic benefits that widespread and indiscriminate dredging apparently provides [!]

This footage was taken inside Gairloch protected area. About 20m further on, a scallop dredge tow has decimated the seabed.

These habitats are scallop spawning grounds, cod nurseries and home to a range of species. We need dredging out of these sensitive waters.
