Underrated life skill: Knowing when you're the problem. Self-awareness is a massive advantage. Not everything is someone else’s fault. Not every mess is external. Sometimes the pattern is you. And if you're self-aware enough to own it, you'll be strong enough to change it.
Life is strange. You arrive with nothing, spend your whole life chasing everything, and still leave with nothing. Make sure your soul gains more than your hands.
You’re not moving as fast as you want not because you’re slow. You’re not moving as fast you want because you’re not moving at all.
You have decisions to make and you’re not making them.
Stop chasing people who aren’t genuinely interested in you. Friends, jobs, partners, etc. Go where you're asked questions, not just expected to give answers. Interest is effort. Effort takes energy. Energy shows respect.
You’re going to have to learn how to try significantly harder and longer than you expected but the payoff will bigger and different than you imagined because you realize that the money never mattered and who you become to get it was the point all along.
Dopamine from information gathering is a dangerous drug. Your entire life will change the moment you stop looking for more information and start acting on the information you already have. Always get your dopamine from action.
Being unoffendable is a massive life advantage in today's world. The ability to let nonsense or a differing opinion pass without having a reaction will change your life. No response, no letting it get under your skin, and definitely no letting it alter the course of your day.
If you want to be successful, you only need to do one thing: be proud of your work…
Genuinely. Alone. At night. On your own. When no one is watching. Know. In your bones. That you gave it your all.
When you do that, nothing can stop you.
Harsh truths I know at 39 I wish I knew at 29:
1. The solution to money problems is to make more money, not save money.
2. Entrepreneurship is hard. Being laid off as an employee is harder.
Your entire life will change when you realize that fear feeds on inaction. The longer you wait to act, the stronger your fear becomes. When you take action, you starve fear of the oxygen it needs to survive. The answer is found in the action.
The older I get, the more I realize:
• No is a full sentence
• Being unbothered is a skill
• Silence is a response
• Most "urgent" things can wait
• Respect > Attention
• Apologies are empty without action
• Movement is medicine
• You're not for everyone, and that's fine
