VALR, Africa's largest crypto exchange by trading volume, is using Hyperliquid as the onchain infrastructure layer to bring perpetuals to its users.
This marks the first time a centralized exchange has integrated Hyperliquid directly. By building on Hyperliquid, VALR can focus on the experience and interface its users trust. Users benefit from Hyperliquid's deep liquidity and onchain transparency, while never having to leave the VALR platform.

South African Banking Giant Opens The Crypto Door
First National Bank has launched a crypto investing service for its customers across South Africa.
The bank, part of the country's second largest banking group by assets, partnered with licensed exchange VALR.
Customers can now trade bitcoin:native, $ETH, ripple:native, $SOL and $USDT directly through FNB's existing share trading platform.
Trading is available around the clock, and investments start from as little as R10.
FNB says the launch responds to rising customer demand, with more crypto options planned.
BREAKING: The institutionalisation of digital assets in South Africa just took a giant leap. @FNBSA has officially launched #crypto trading directly on its banking platform, partnering with local exchange @VALRdotcom.
Clients can now trade assets like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana for as little as R10. To ensure strict security and compliance with exchange control laws, the trading environment is entirely ringfenced, meaning crypto assets cannot be transferred in or out of the FNB ecosystem.
From an academic and strategic lens, this is a fascinating pivot. As regulatory and tax frameworks finally become clearer, legacy banks are moving from scepticism to full-scale adoption. Furthermore, FNB's commitment to rolling out educational learning modules alongside this feature highlights the critical need for digital financial literacy when navigating these volatile assets.
FNB just opened crypto trading to ~9 million South African customers.
Through a partnership with VALR, FNB clients can now buy & sell BTC, ETH, XRP, SOL and USDT directly in the bank’s investment platform, starting from just R10, 24/7.

BREAKING: FNB LETS SOUTH AFRICANS BUY CRYPTO FROM R10 THROUGH VALR
FNB, one of South Africa's largest banks, now lets clients buy BTC, ETH, XRP, SOL, and USDT, starting at just R10 (South African rand).
Purchases run through the VALR exchange.
BTC is up 8.1% over 30 days but still down 2.3% so far this year.
One of my friends once told me that banks will hate on Crypto as it’s decentralised until they find out how to regulate it, centralise it and make profits from it.
Probably one of the biggest developments in Africa’s blockchain ecosystem this year. One of South Africa’s Big Four banks has finally integrated crypto investment into its platform.
Insane move.
Very soon, I think we’ll see similar implementations across several banks, even here in Nigeria. Two years tops. Congratulations, @farzamehsani and the entire VALR team.
