🏆 I feel privileged and honored to have been recognized with two major honors at ACM @ubicomp 2023, the premier international venue for ubiquitous, mobile, and wearable computing research.
🌟 First, I was named a finalist (top 4) for 𝗨𝗯𝗶𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 (𝗚𝗮𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗼 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱). Named in honor of the late Gaetano Borriello (Professor at the @UW), this annual award recognizes “𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝗻, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝗯𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴”, from graduate students across the world. I received this for my PhD research on model personalization, generalization, and distribution shift in mobile health sensing.
🌟 Second, we received the "𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱" for our paper "𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀: 𝗔𝗻 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀". This award recognized 8 papers out of over 210 journal papers accepted at ACM on Interactive, Mobile, Wearable and Ubiquitous Technologies (IMWUT) journal and presented at this year's ubicomp. The journal has an acceptance rate of around 20%, which puts our paper among the top 1% of submitted papers and the top 4% of accepted papers. I would also like to congratulate all the co-authors from the @WeNetProject. Paper link: https://t.co/JszJ7ZJmO1
🙏🏼 I cannot emphasize enough how fortunate I am to have had the opportunity to work with great mentors, mentees, and collaborators across multiple institutes over the past 5-6 years. I sincerely appreciate my amazing PhD advisor, @dgaticaperez, without whom none of this would have been possible. Thank you so much for your immense support.
