Good Wednesday! It's basically summer so it'll be a good day to spend by the pool!
Temperatures will warm up to the 80s in the Upstate and the mid 70s in the mountains.
Winds will be breezy at times but will be out of the north, keeping humidity low through the rest of the week!
Good Saturday morning! The sunshine is back today with no chance of rain. It will also be warm with highs in the 70s, upper 60s in the mountains.
Winds will still be strong in the mountains today. In the Upstate it will not be as bad, but still breezy.

SOLAR ECLIPSE IN THE CAROLINAS
Many questions about what you’ll see in the Carolinas today.
1. Partial Eclipse starts roughly around 2pm.
2. Max Eclipse roughly 3:08 - 3:15pm. At that time, the moon will cover 70-85% of the sun. You'd think it would get dark, right? It won't. It might be a little dimmer but even with just 15-30% of the sun's light reaching us, it will look almost normal. We will NOT see totality here.
3. Partial Eclipse ends roughly around 4:30pm
4. No matter where you are in the Carolinas, you have to have eclipse glasses to look at the sun to view the eclipse.
5. You DO NOT need eclipse glasses to do anything you normally do outdoors…driving, walking etc. You only need them to look directly at the sun!
6. Your pets do not need protective eyewear, and they can be outside during the eclipse.
I plan to be live on Facebook from Houlton, Maine today sometime between 12-2pm…depending on bandwidth 🙂. Also make sure and check out ABC 15 news tonight at 6 PM. I’ll have a recap of everything including video and photos. Of course I’ll post a lot here as well. #scwx #ncwx #Eclipse2024
The hurricane season is still nearly two months away but Dr. Phil Klotzbach and his research team at Colorado State University released their forecast for the 2024 hurricane season today.
Unfortunately, it's likely to be a very active season. The forecast calls for 23 named storms, 11 of those becoming hurricanes and 5 of those becoming major hurricanes (category 3 or higher). In an average year, we expect 14 named storms, 7 hurricanes, and
3 major hurricanes.
IMPORTANT - None of these preseason forecasts CANNOT tell you where any storm will go
Dr. Klotzbach indicates record warm tropical and eastern subtropical Atlantic water temperatures as the primary factor for a busy season. Additionally, El Nino is likely transition to La Nina by the peak of hurricane season. In years with La Nina, the wind
shear is typically lighter. When wind shear is lighter, there is generally an increase in hurricane activity.
Remember, whether there are 5 or 25 named storms, it only takes one hitting us to make it a bad year. That's why it's important to prepare every year!

Happy Valentine's Day!
As Joey Tribbiani says, this day of love is about giving and receiving as well as having and sharing.
So through this evening, Mother Nature will give clear skies, we will receive no rain, we will have chilly temperatures, and shall share a lovely evening!
As my time here at 7News comes to a close in 2023, I want to wish you all a safe night and a blessed New Year!
Don’t worry, you’ll still see me on 7News in 2024! 😉 See you next year! 🥳
Happy New Year's Eve! If you plan on going out tonight to ring in the new year you'll want a jacket. It will be chilly, but dry.
What are your plans tonight?
Good morning everyone!!!! I’m filling in for @henry_coburn this weekend. I hope you’ll join us for 7 News! @Weather4Granted & I are on air until 8am this morning & from 7am-9am tomorrow😁
Someone asked Santa for rain in the Upstate and mountains! Widespread showers will be likely throughout your Christmas holiday with near normal temperatures. We could see 1-3 inches of rain through Wednesday.
