The Reflecting Pool is a perfect metaphor for the Trump administration:
- Ignore experts and science
- Overspend
- Declare early, historic victory
- "THE LEFT HATE THIS"
- Ends in total failure
- Unfounded conspiracies about sabotage
- MAGA pretends it doesn't actually matter
It’s just amazing that even the little things - like painting the reflecting pool - are inevitably mired in corruption and incompetence with this administration. Nothing can be done correctly, everything is a grift.
A Washington Post analysis found that the reflecting pool contains more algae than at any point recorded in June over the past five years.

Wait, wait, wait. You're telling that this White House didn't consult people who know what they're talking about? You're saying that they hired their friends to paint the bottom blue without knowing it would raise the water temp which helps the algae? THIS White House? No way.
Senator Marshall suggests Iran needs to be able to defend itself with ballistic missiles, otherwise the U.S. could enter a forever war.
So America’s adversaries need to be able to defend themselves against America for America’s sake? Got it. Nothing to see here. Nothing weird going on at all.

@EliLake Probably would be a better Tweet if there was any evidence regarding the “militarily destroyed nuclear program that Obama’s deal legitimated”??
It is incredible to see so many surprised by this Iran deal. Trump has zero principles other than “Trump” and is not very smart. This has been painfully obvious to anyone not blinded by the allure of nonsensical MAGA talking points and conservative judges.
According to CNN, their sources say that "nearly every single senior White House official" including Hegseth, Ratcliffe, Rubio, Vance as well as Kushner and Witkoff all expressed concerns over the last few weeks that Iran would not hold up their end of the bargain. But the President wanted to push it through anyway. The report says that Ratcliffe and Hegseth spoke out about it the most.
The US secretly approved a financial and maritime arrangement between Qatar and Iran, under which billions of dollars were paid to Tehran in exchange for free passage for Qatari tankers and ships through the Strait of Hormuz, three diplomatic officials now confirm.
This was a deliberate and conscious course of action by the US administration, which allowed its navy to turn a blind eye to the arrangement, in complete contradiction of its declared policy. The move was intended to ease the crisis in global energy markets and curb rising oil prices.
