being a social manager means taking the blame for things you literally begged them not to do.
you're always the first person to know when something's going wrong because you see it in the comments and the dms before anyone else even wakes up, and then you have to decide if you escalate it now and look dramatic or wait and watch it get worse.
here's what actually helps:
1️⃣ start documenting everything in writing, when you flag something and they ignore it keep receipts because when it blows up later you need proof you already told them about it.
2️⃣ create a simple alert system with leadership so they know the difference between "heads up: this is happening" and "we need to act on this now" because if everything sounds urgent nothing is.
3️⃣ when things go wrong publicly, own the response but make it clear internally who made what decision, don't let yourself become the scapegoat by staying quiet in slack.
5️⃣ set boundaries on what you're responsible for versus what you can control, you can manage the message but you can't fix a shit product or a bad decision and that's not your job to cover up forever.
the invisible part isn't the work, it's being responsible for perception while having zero control over what's being perceived, so your job is to make sure the right people know that too.
