@fuu_r_u I’ve never had a friends-with-benefits situation myself, but everyone I’ve asked who’s been physically involved with a friend says that’s pretty much what a FWB is.
Unfortunately, people with high pattern recognition were gaslit as kids to be too sensitive, too paranoid, and overractive. They've been trained to doubt themselves. Only those who trust their gifts and intuition can't be manipulated. Others gaslight themselves into thinking they are doing too much.
AUTISM IS A LIFETIME OF TRYING TO FIGURE OUT IF OTHER PEOPLE ARE ALSO DEEPLY HOMESICK FOR SOMETHING / SOMEONE THAT DOESN’T EXIST ON THIS DIMENSION AND FIGURING OUT THAT THEY, IN FACT, ARE NOT. AND THEY THINK YOU’RE INSANE WHEN YOU TRY TO ARTICULATE IT.
If whales can survive off their fat stores for months, why is my body acting like it’s entering the Great Depression every two hours?
I have reserves. Use them.
You think you found a calm, chill guy…

He’s just a dismissive avoidant
who doesn’t know how to communicate like an adult.
Large-scale, corporate AI. The mechanics of it fascinated me. I led a team of AI developers. Then I saw what was happening with generative AI stealing creators’ work. I saw the massive data centers being built. I listened to people like Sam Altman. And I decided to step away from AI. Lost me a job. I’ll find another.
So I told my therapist about how all the stuff going on in the world really affects me emotionally and her response was basically, "well it's not happening to you or anyone you know personally so you can't worry about it so much..." And I'm not sure how to feel about that answer.
I've actually read, recently, that “people on the Autism spectrum tend to be hyperemotional and sensitive, rather than aloof and uncaring as people tend to think they are. The theory is that they're so over-sensitive to emotion that they have to just "turn off" because it's too painful.”
Any thoughts on that?
