Sheffield Wednesday Football Club confirms that Henrik Pedersen has left the club with immediate effect.
Henrik led the first team through an exceptional period in the club's history, providing stability and leadership during a time of significant uncertainty and change.
The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Henrik for his contribution and wishes him every success in the future.
Sporting Director Simon Wilson said: “First and foremost, I want to thank Henrik for his professionalism, commitment and contribution during an exceptionally challenging period for Sheffield Wednesday.
“We knew the start of this season would be difficult due to the scale of change across the club, but our expectation was always that we would develop as the season progressed, establishing a recognisable style of play and greater consistency in our performances.
“Although we have accumulated points, we haven’t seen enough progress in those areas. We believe making a change now gives us the best opportunity to establish those foundations and build towards the second half of the season and beyond.
“We remain ambitious about what we can achieve this campaign, and our focus remains on building a Sheffield Wednesday team with a clear identity, capable of delivering sustained improvement and long-term success.”
Matt Hamshaw will take interim charge of the first team while the club undertakes the process of appointing its next Head Coach.
The club will provide further updates when appropriate.
@RamblersAnonym1@LowleyW Sporting director will know him well from Stockport and yes I know some of that success was at a lower level, but he was someone I mentioned to a friends even before he took the Stockport job that this guy seems to be someone to watch, and it’s not recycled option either.
Episode 5: Emm’s Barbers – Sheffield
“Everybody just disappeared. People were losing their jobs because there wasn’t enough custom.”
In one of the most recent examples of a historic football club facing an uncertain future, Natalie, Emma and some of her customers, spoke to us about the impact previous uncertainty around Sheffield Wednesday’s future had on them, their community and their city.
@andymcelwaine Who could forget, checks wiki: McGeady scored his first goal for Sheffield Wednesday by rifling home the opening goal in the 30th minute during a comfortable away win at Nottingham Forest in the Championship in March 2016.
Thanks for all the well wishes for recovery. @swfc fans are the greatest in football maybe in all of sport. I love you guys.
Surgery next Thursday will be in a race with @LouieBarry6 to see who gets back in action at Hillsborough sooner. Hope I get back fast… but pray he gets back faster!!
Up the Owls!

Like father like son. Dom Iorfa was Steve Bruce’s first signing at #SWFC back in 2019. Now more than seven years later Alex Bruce has signed him for #RUFC. Doubtless a recommendation was involved somewhere along the line.
@domhowson Start gray there. We were a lot better when he came on and that’s also where he began the season playing ahead of Louie Barry. Wouldn’t be against the idea of Morrison and Gray switching at times mid game to keep opposition on their toes.
