Found some time this morning to finish up the influenza vaccine painting. Recombinant vaccine in red, interacting with B-cell receptors and triggering a flurry of signaling inside the cell. #sciart
Take a look! Julia Jimenez did a summer internship in the lab a while back, working on different ways to model and visualize exosomes. The paper is out in Journal of Biocommunication.
Just put the finishing touches on the December Molecule of the Month--this should be an easy one to guess. The full article will be available early December on the RCSB site (@buildmodels)

I am super excited to share that this summer I am going to be starting as a TT Assistant Professor in the Microbiology Department @Penn! So blessed for the mentorship & support from my family, academic family, friends who are family & lab members who are life long friends!
@mcianfro HIV intasomes (complexes of Integrase & DNA) are like this. Aggregate immediately at <500 mM salt. We need 800 mM salt + 5% glycerol to keep them happy! Now we have structures with small molecules at ~3A (+ needed to tilt to 40-deg for this pathologically behaved sample!) 😱
Interested in using #ClickSeq? @ElaJaworski and I have started an NGS service company @clickseqtech. We'll be up in Houston for the next few days doing market research. Find us at https://t.co/Bxpw9VUegW for more info.
Beware of the “bystander effect” when asking for help. If you need feedback on a manuscript, don’t email everyone in the lab - they will assume someone else will help and that they don’t need to. Ask individually and tell each person why their feedback is especially valuable.
Venki was invited to do a post doc in Tom Steitz's lab in the 1970s! ... Do polar bears really hibernate and induce crystalline ribosome packing? ... A fun read through a lifetime of a ribosome research, with plenty of curious personal anecdotes

My plea yesterday to subscribe to our YouTube channel (https://t.co/kIrTAoR98R) so that we can apply for a grant to support it - got us 500 new subscribers. Thanks! To my science colleagues who have not subscribed - who know who you are - what's the problem? It's free.
