@GirlScout27@KemiBadenoch So. I am born Earl something or other and I can be part of making laws. Or I can be born in a working class family and deal with the outcome of laws made by people who will never live my life… tell me you don’t understand the class struggle without admitting you are not European
So sad. But if there has been a more poignant and beautiful theme for any TV show ever, I haven’t heard it. This is simply memorable because it is as close to perfection as is possible.
Sad to hear of the passing of Moya (Maire) Brennan from Clannad. Such a talented songwriter and musician.
Never actually watched Harry's Game, but like many children of the 80s, the theme is etched in the memory… thanks to that beautiful, ethereal voice.
@Straightpaths36@giles_fraser Best answer in the entire thread. If division is over denominational theology then it would reflect poorly on our canonical and Pauline understanding.
@BenGrahamUK@Bart_E_Newman@dariusimperator You are wrong on Christian history, unless you ignore Danelaw and the history of the North of England. Danelaw only ended in the 10th Century…
@BenGrahamUK@grok Without Grok I’ll explain. Danelaw covered most of Northern England until 954CE. So, England has only been Christian (predominantly) for c. 1100 years and not 1400 unless you think the North doesn’t count… (like Alfred the Great who gifted the North to the Danes)
@PaulH507@FroemelAndy@Nigel_Farage I accept the referendum result. But as leading Brexiteer David David Davis said “If a democracy cannot change its mind, it ceases to be a democracy." So it is democratic to argue Brexit has failed and that a new referendum would be democratic.
@FroemelAndy@Nigel_Farage Democracy. There was an election and Labour won. There will be a new election but when their term of office ends. That is how democracy works. You can’t only recognise democratic outcomes when it’s your side that wins.
