Hi there, Twitter friends,
Iโve decided itโs time to separate myself from this platform, since it is owned and run by someone who is so much part of the problem he needs to be shunned.
Itโs been fun at times but ultimately needs to go.
All the best.
Bye.
This is the root of the problem. The way Israel was allowed to come into being and expand was the cause of an inevitable response from the original inhabitants of the territory. Netanyahu has since ensured that the most extreme responders stayed in power in Gaza. Result - Oct 7.
Just a casual reminder that Germans who โdidnโt bother to voteโ in 1932 didnโt get a chance again until 1946, after Hitlerโs death. โ Thereโs a lesson there.
@OffbeatOracle@ProfBrianCox The point Iโm making is that the damage being done to the U.K. by Brexit NOW will render โthe long termโ a very sad and sorry place for my children and their children. Any โbenefitsโ e.g. a feeling of not having Johnny Foreigner influencing how we run our country will be as dust.
@VividProwess What did you expect would be the response by the Palestinian people to being violently dispossessed and made oppressed refugees in their own homeland? Even then Netanyahu had to Pump In money and resources to ensure Hamas remained in power in Gaza to avoid a 2-State solution.
@YvetteCooperMP Hezbollah and, indeed, Hamas emerged, inevitably. as responses to the way Israel was allowed to develop by making Palestinians refugees in their own homeland. If Germany had invaded and occupied U.K. (Lebensraum) would our resistance have been a โterrorist organisationโ?
@A_B_Morgan You have done well (and have maybe had some luck along the way - parenting is full of unintended consequences.) Congratulations. How exciting to see how your daughter progresses!
@ProfBrianCox Brexit is part of a journey to deregulated, tax-haven, rights-free, SEZs in which firms focused on the UK market can improve profitability through lower taxes and state aid support. These are terrible for the majority as they accelerate privatisation of NHS & public services.
@OffbeatOracle@ProfBrianCox In the long term weโll all be dead and the losses in trade and GDP will remorselessly go on to outweigh any benefits derived from distancing ourselves from the problems that arise from 27 or more nation states pooling a bit of sovereignty to maximise trade and eliminate war.
@worstall@David__Osland Not at all sure that money kept by tax avoidance โgets spent.โ There is a lot of hoarding going on in โtax havensโ. Money paid in tax by less wealthy people is much more likely to be spent in the mainstream everyday economy.
@TheHoogie So will I, and Iโve led a life blessed with the NHS, born a year before me, free school meals, free University etc. Sadly, Netanyahu seems determined to have one and nobody as yet has the balls to call time on Israelโs โself-defence.โ
