It was so powerful to have our labor siblings and political leaders join us in demanding that UNH PROTECT OUR JOBS! The university hasn't met our deadline, which means this week we will SEE YOU ON THE PICKET LINE! #universityofnewhaven#unionyes#unitehere#nocontractnopeace
We don’t want to strike, but we will! Great to see everyone out at the action today including our union siblings, local reps and community leaders!!! ✊ ✊ Union busting is disgusting - UNH facilities workers need job security NOW and if we don’t get it? SHUT IT DOWN🔥 🔥 🔥
Yesterday, hundreds of University of New Haven workers and other members of Local 217 UNITE HERE joined together to demand UNH settle a fair contract NOW. UNH facilities workers deserve fair wages, affordable healthcare, and a safe workplace! And if we don't get it? SHUT IT DOWN.
A few days ago, we emailed President Roth asking him to meet with us to talk about how Wesleyan can help ensure dining workers receive equal treatment on our campus. Spoiler alert: he said no. But we have a few notes on his response… (1/2)
Worker power is where it's at! Thank you to @NLMayorMikeP, Mayor Passero, of New London for listening to our stories and supporting our union drive at Connecticut College. Grateful for all elected officials who stand with workers for better pay and working conditions.
Join us in demanding that the Wesleyan Board of Trustees ACT NOW to stop the union-busting taking place at WesWings and The Red and Black Cafe! Learn more about our campaign at https://t.co/tDuSK4Rlns
So grateful for the support of our elected leaders! We had the chance to meet with @rosadelauro at a labor roundtable and share about our experiences organizing our union.
🚨Today we delivered a letter from 50+ labor leaders in Connecticut calling on President Roth to intervene in the labor crisis on Wesleyan's campus!!🚨
So grateful for everyone's solidarity and support✊✊ #workersunitedwillneverbedivided#unionYES#wesDWU
It's time 2 vote for your bargaining committee! If you are a Bon Appetit student worker, come vote @ UOC TOMMORROW, 10am-12pm/3pm-5pm tomorrow. The bargaining committee is made up of your fellow student workers who'll be in negotiations w/ the employer for your first contract!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our rally on Friday! Together we can fight and win our union ✊✊✊ Special shoutout to @MattLesser@savelkoul@AFTCT@217unitehere@wes_USE for all their support!
We knocked again today, and President Roth still wasn’t home! 🤔
Join us this Friday at 12:30 outside South College to call on Wesleyan to stand up for workers rights!
See you there 🫡
🚨Wesleyan can put an end to union-busting on campus!! Join us on Friday to demand that the university put an end to the union-busting at Red and Black Cafe and Swings🚨
That’s why we are calling on Wesleyan to stop the union busting at RBC and Swings by requiring them to follow a fast, neutral process without an anti-union campaign. Join us this Friday at 12:30 outside South College to call on Wesleyan to stand up for workers rights! (3/3)
🥳Victory!!!! Thanks to our organizing, the bosses at RBC and Swings have agreed to stop trying to disenfranchise student workers and respect our right to vote in a union election.
🚨However, they’re still trying to union-bust by refusing to take a neutral position. (1/3)
We look forward to exercising our right to vote, but we shouldn’t have to wait months when Wesleyan has the ability to resolve this crisis quickly and fairly. Wesleyan can afford 100% union coverage on campus! (2/3)
