Yesterday, the SCTPO partnered with the West Melbourne PD for our final Brake for Break: Pedestrian Safety Pop-Up. This activation looked a little different, as we focused on newly installed Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons (PHBs) on U.S. 192.

We have been advised by the City of Melbourne that a sample of tested water had returned a result that indicated E.coli bacteria was present in their water system, which supplies drinking water to the City of West Melbourne.
Additional sampling and testing is being performed; however, results from those tests will not be available until 48 hours after the test. For updates or FAQ please visit the City of Melbourne's website or contact them at 321-608-5700.
Due to a large watermain break near 192 and Evans, westbound 192 is closed at Evans/Hollywood. It is anticipated that the closure will remain in place the rest of the night and overnight hours due to roadway repairs that will be necessary after the watermain is repaired.
Do you know of a person or family who might be experiencing food insecurity? The City of West Melbourne is partnering with Farm Share to distribute free food on Friday, November 22nd. This drive-thru event will be held at Community Park, 3000 Minton Road, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
West Melbourne residents ONLY (i.d. required) may fill 10 sandbags at Community Park on Tuesday, 10/8 from 9a-12p, or until the sand supply is exhausted. Access to the park will be from the Minton and Wingate/Fell Road only, through Max Rodes Park and east on Flanagan to the park

Tropical Storm Helene is expected to make landfall as major hurricane in Florida this week. We encourage residents to follow trusted sources to monitor for any impacts on our region.

Most vehicle burglaries are a crime of opportunity, where suspects look for unlocked vehicles to take items from your car. In past years, July sees an increase in these crimes in West Melbourne. Please do your part to prevent crime in our neighborhoods by locking your vehicle.
Do you know what to do if you see flashing warning lights while driving? FDOT reminds motorists to move over a lane or reduce speed by 20 miles per hour under the posted limit when approaching these lights. These emergency vehicles need safe clearance to help others.
