Did the new loop utilize the location of the CNE railway “display tracks”. Seems old photos showed new railway equipment showcased during the CNE here, parallel and elevated from the mainline.
Jun 15, 1996: the Toronto Transit Commission opens its new Exhibition streetcar loop, replacing the old loop to the south that was removed to make way for the new National Trade Centre. The new TTC passenger loading and unloading area was close to @GOtransit's Exhibition Station.
These are the 25 Calgary Stampeders stickers from the 1971 Eddie Sargent Promotions collection. Led by LB Wayne Harris, DL Dick Suderman, DL John Helton, QB Jerry Keeling, DB-K Larry Robinson, Rec Herm Harrison et al, Stamps defeated Toronto 14-11 to win the Grey Cup. 🇨🇦🏈🏆
It’s opening day for the Toronto Blue Jays. Let’s not forget their greatest farm team of all time-the St. Catharines Stompers. To this day, one of the best baseball jerseys of all time. Nothing better than watching NY Penn League baseball at the former Community Park.
Pittsburgh, St. Louis and California ( before they switched to white) I believe are the teams that used these for at least one season. Early 70’s hockey cards/books memory burn.
For those of you that have seen old footage of NHL games in the 70's, yes, some teams wore team coloured skates made by @CCMHockey and by @BauerHockey (my very first pair of skates were made by @BauerHockey in the green, white & blue colours of the Canucks)
Oct. 23, 1977. Extremely rare TV footage from the old #Cleveland Coliseum in Richfield, Ohio - home of the #NHL#Barons in 1976-77 and 1977-78. Here, from Channel 50 in #Pittsburgh, is poor quality sound and announcing, as the #Penguins are referred to as “we” and “us”. Attendance was 5,910 and the visitors prevailed, 3-2. #NHL #Leafs
Good stuff Howard! Questions: Is that StL goalie #1 Don Caley’s only NHL game? When did Leafs’ PAA Paul Morris start announcing player’s first names after goals, penalties?
Frank Mahovlich turned 88 this week. He’s among a handful of players still with us from #Toronto’s last #StanleyCup team. Here, the Big M scored against St. Louis in the #Blues first-ever visit to Maple Leaf Gardens, Dec. 30, 1967. I was at the game with my father. Bill Hewitt and Brian McFarlane called the goal. Mahovlich would be traded to #Detroit just more than two months later. Leafs throttled Scotty Bowman’s team, 8-1. #LeafsForever #CBC
@mitchyul@JosephPolitano Correct! Just took the tour with my daughter 3 weeks ago. Well worth it. I was the only one (old enough!) in the group that also was at Expo 67 ( 2yrs old).
It's a star-studded edition of the #NiagaraSportsReport this week!
